I got almost all I need to complete it (for under $2000 total cost)... I'm all about that cheapride stuff man.

Kinda did the same thing at work the other day..we were standing around in the parking lot and the kids were talking about Fast&Furious this, drifter that, drag racing, I boiled it down to economics..I pointed to a 75-77 Nova that was in the parking lot and told them they could make that car go fast for half the money it would take to make a Honda Civic go just as fast..appealing to their wallets seemed to work..I also mumbled something about how Mitsubishi made the Japanese Zeros that bombed Pearl Harbor, you know how that went over (their heads)....

Breeder, you shouldn't have cut that hair...:) It looks great! I love traditional cars, old dirt trackers and all of the rest, but the '50s buzzcuts, DA's and such leave me cold. In my dating days, which weren't THAT long ago since I'm a '60s child, if a dude didn't at least have shoulder length hair, I marked him off of my list....:D

Jan...glad the kidz are losing the skinhead look at last!

    Good call, dad!

My son's 14 -- I scored him a '65 Econoline for when he turns 16. First thing I did was add disc brakes. CD player came next, of course. Those early Econolines are VERY popular with teenagers today, even the non-gear heads.

Yeah, go with the manual shift -- mine ... er, my son's... has the gennie 3-on-the-tree and the original 240 straight six. I live on a farm, and started both my kids at age 9, with my manual shift Jeep. My daughter, now 18, actually didn't know what to do the first time she got in a car with an automatic! She didn't know what the PRND meant, and was freaked out when she didn't see a clutch (everything I own is manual shift).

  11. Hilarious! I learned to drive a stick when I bought a car that had one and had to get it home! I HAD grown up driving the tractor, but not quite the same...
I also remember it was funny as **** teaching my little sister to drive the standard shift. Every time it sputtered and stalled, I'd get frustrated and pissed off, and she would just laugh!

Man, you are going to Heaven (unless you fancy the other place, of course). How did you convince him that the old and funky is better than burning rice?

We had just started looking for his first ride... hadn't really decided on anything. All I heard was "newer" and "smaller"... I could see where it was heading. The Econo was to be a project for ME, but I made him sit in it and crawl around under it with me for awhile, then I told him we could fix it up for him if he'd like... he decided that would be just fine, dammitt!
