After ten years of going without heat in the 48, I decided to put in a heat&defrost unit. Just wondering what some of you have used and or recommend. looking for something small but with good heat output..
    Thanks in advance

The subject's been brought up a few times before on here, but I'll throw out one more endor*****t for the Mojave heaters (available through JEGS). They are small, self-contained units that come with a three-speed fan switch and an optional plenum is available seperately to allow easy hook-up to defroster ducts.

I had a Mojave heater/defroster in one of my cars all winter and it does the job! Even in that drafty old wreck, it kept me plenty warm, and I ducted the defroster output into the car's original "Y" duct for the defrosters to make sure the windshield would stay clear in the snow and the slop!

No complaints...the Mojave is small, light, easy to install (provide a 12v positive lead to the switch and a 12v negative ground, then plumb two 5/8" heater hoses to the core) and it provides plenty of heat. Of course, your engine will dictate just how hot it gets...but I ran a 195 degree thermostat, so it was always nice and toasty in my heap!!

or find an old "universal" heater (or an original for your car) at a swap meet/junkyard/epay/hamb cl***ified and use it. More work required, but it'll look *****in

Vintage Air has a nice unit too. I had one in my 37 and it allowed me to extend the driving season here in mid-Michigan quite a bite.
