I have had this 32 coupe for over 5 years now.....BUT, my wife and I just had a baby (Hazel) about 2 weeks ago.

I know it's retardedly soon to be worried about such a thing, but I'm thinking of trading up to something with a back seat for Hazel.

My car is all steel, no rust anywhere, SoCal car, big block ford, aluminum heads, E&J's, blah, blah, blah.....all the bells and whistles.

I've always wanted a '49-'51 Ford convertible, and I found a guy that's interested in trading. Here's a link to the description of the other car: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...RK:MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=130090613338&rd=1,1

    - Am I a fool?
    - Is this a smart move?
    - Does anyone know this car?
    - What kind of deal should I shoot for with this guy? (what's mine worth, what's his worth?)

Somebody talk me into (or out of) this!

I should probably just think about it for several months huh?

    Thanks!!!!!! Ben

I would think about it for a while, Besides you have a all steel car that is really cool, Keep the coupe get something that is cheaper and old so you can cruise, and then when you daughter is old you and her can cruise in your coupe together, for some cool father daughter time...

This is coming from a guy that loves shoebox fords, and has a 1 year old daughter... keep the coupe. You could always find a good deal on a moredoor and chop the roof off for topless sunny day fun. Cheap, and you wouldn't kick yourself for the rest of your life for ditching the coupe. Just sayin'.

That shoebox looks valuble and is probaly wirth the price, but a all steel 32 will always hold its value, and its also a icon. I would look for something cheap to use as a family mobile. Could grab a late 50's wagon and lower it etc, those always look cool.

  7. do not trade - you will need that small coupe to be able to take relaxing rides by yourself.

Get a second car for the back seat.

Most people will tell ya your crazy for tradin' off a '32, but there's more to life than deuce's.......
Good luck with your decision.....it's a tough one....

    Beautiful Shoebox.
Both cars will hold their value over the years and My thinking both are around the same value. I'd say sell the coupe and invite your family into your hobby. Most dont stop with one kid.
You can always sell it after they have grown and buy your dream hotrod during your mid life crisis.
    Absolutely great convertible!

thats like trading a hot wife for a church lady...

  14. Keep your coupe....plenty of sedans around cheap...converts a different story, but you will always miss your coupe.

You in a few years " Yeah, my sedan is nice, but, I should have never lost that coupe!".

  15. I foolishly traded a Deuce 5wd off once so I'm speaking from experience..... I'd trade for that convert in a minute. Deuce coupes are everywhere. Drop top shoeboxes aren't.

No offense, it is very nice, but your coupe looks like all the rest. That shoebox is unique.

Give me classic Ford styling over someone's version of what a "hot rod" should be anyday....

I would not trade...I am building up a 32 5w now and it is really hard to find nice parts at a fair price...your car looks very complete(roll down rear window)dont take for granted the parts that you have...i agree with the comment about college....look for a stock, grandma, church going car for the family...just my opinion

  17. keep the coupe!!!are you nutz ???

Not even a option. Fix that trunk and make it a Rumble seat. Two fixes in one. Keep the hot rod and make the family too

  19. hmmmm that sounds like someone talking someone from selling his 46....

  20. That vert is nice and I would trade. You can buy all new steel bodies for the 32 later in life, if you have to have one again

I wouldn't trade. I'd build a new family car if need be.

For the first couple years it'll be tough with a two seater (I have a 7 month old and a 6 year old so I know what the begining couple years are like) but when the kid is old enough to come out for a ride with dad in the coupe they'll be loving the one on one time.

Are you kidding.......... Trading an original steel 32 coupe for a shoebox. I can't even believe what I'm hearing. Go buy an old car trader and count how many shoebox's that are for sale, compared to 32's. Enough said.

  24. Not me either. I'd keep the coupe.

  25. Are ya Kidding ME!!!!...Step Away from the Baby Powder!...

    Silly question.
Keep the coupe and get something else to haul all the family in, make it your wife's car.

Trading a steel deuce coupe for a '49 Ford?!??

Just thinking about it is criminally insane. That will definitely be the dumbest thing you'll ever do...

Keep the irreplaceable $50K deuce, look around for a common $15K Ford... JMO.
