I have to agree with Joyo. His work is truly awe inspiring. I would love to own an original. Just got a print of Zombie Fly for Xmas. Oh, and by the way, he has some super nice cars too.
I didn't know that...cool. I saw this blurb about him on the web(below). I wonder if Keith and his dad were close, you'd think so reading about his dad. I wonder if Jerry is a Hamber? No one in my family was into this stuff or taught me anything about it growing up, but I hope to p*** this on to my kids if I have any, if not I'll p*** it along to some youngster one day. Maybe they weren't close at all and this is in the Weesner genetic makeup and Keith had no choice but to be into hot rods! I can see him in kindergarten art cl*** with an ***ignment to draw a fruit bowl or something and was trying so hard but his hand controlling the pencil drew a 331 caddy with 4x2 setup... -JOYO "We're not sure, but we think Jerry Weesner predates all things automotive. However, one thing is for sure, he's been on the staff of SRM and CRM for over 14 years. Jerry is often referred to as our "walking encyclopedia" on all things automotive. He impresses all of us with his historical knowledge and ability to recall what magazine, in what year, and on what page this or that car appeared some 40 years ago. Personally, I think it's because he's predates the automobile! Thanks to the best senior editor in the biz."
I got to meet him at the first Primer Nationals. I was wearing a Pileup shirt too and he seemed to dig it. Introduced myself and tried to not to geek out like a complete nerd.
I am amazed by his art. I can barely draw a straight line. I've got 4 prints of his. Whenever I go to his site, the original artwork is already sold. I LOVE that catalog cover he is doing. And when he adds a girl along with the cars, WOW, it's even better, if that's possible. A couple of my favorites
His art has also influenced model car builders to. I don't know who to give credit to for this but it is great. (I think his name is Matt)
Keith's BEST work was drinkin' 5 beers at the Retreat Hotel here in Melbourne and tryin' to convince us he'd had 12! Was good having ya over here Keith. Had on the Cosmic Coupe T you gave me just last week, here at work. Shelley wears her singlet all the time.....well, when she's not pregnant! Wayne.
I can't resist, just a couple more. I have also seen another model with the ax hanging from the window. That was pretty cool. I'll find pix later.
Sam, I saw your tank over on JJ and I'll look forward to seeing your bike come together. I have that print, too, and absolutely love the proportions of that bike. I would like to build a bike similar to that as well.
Oh... now showing you pics of the whole thing would spoil the fun! It's a 650 Triumph with a Dave Bird frame... I had him do a one-off frame that was a little shorter and lower than most. I got it through Bruce at Hollywoodbobbbers.com over in SF. I had the rest from the basket case I bought... but didn't have the time to make my parts pile frame into a runner... so I plunked the cash down and was able to tell him how long, how low and how raked I wanted it! Sam. and a pic the night I picked it up... I couldn't resist having a glipse of what was to come!
Alright, I found these. I think this was probably also Weesner inspire. Don't know who the builder is but it'e pretty cool.
Not enough can be said about the man and his art............ My den is full of Weesner's prints - inspiration in the garage and then in the house..... Thanks Keith
As you can see, my husband and I are fans too. Our roadster, El Tiki, a Culburtson custom, was influenced by the copper roadster in Winner's Circle. This gal here, in my avatar.....well, she is totally my mentor. : )
Yeah, it's real hard for me to pick a favorite, I love 'em all! If you ever see him at a show, go over and say hi, he and his wife Penny are very cool people. By the way, Keith's looking for an F1 like the one in his painting. Any H.A.M.B.'r out there have a nice cream-puff of a truck to help out a great artist?
Had the pleasure of meeting Penny at last years Midnight M***. They had just gotten back from Germany and Keith was a little worn out from the trip. I really enjoyed talking to Penny and look forward to seeing both of them at this years show.
Weesner's art is the ONLY art my 'ol lady will let me hang IN the house... hahaha..... I'd like to build a REAL "Zombie Fly" someday......
Weesner's got a great eye for the pics he does hes definatly a talented guy i love his stuff even got some on me wall
