Plowboy needs to have a look at that prototype built by a aircraft company. I'd like to see a Cord inspired tradiitonal looking hotrod
This Tasco prototype was designed by Gordon Buehrig, who also designed the Auburn Speedster, the Cord 810, and a number of Fords in the '50s (including the top of my '51 Victoria). It's a shame he couldn't figure out a more compact solution for the nose. With something like a track nose and better headlight placement, this could have been a good looking car.
I swear that I saw a Tasco (or something similar) somewhere within the last year or so... a junkyard online pic, some ad or ebay. I've seen this only built example at Auburn.
Hey, "IF" I remember anything close to correctly, Gorden Buehrig and a couple investors developed the Tasco (1948?), but couldn't get anyone interested in production. I seem to think that Derham did the coachwork, probably big money, even in post war America. Buehrig never recouped a dime from this venture. S****ey Devils C.C.
Very cool photo gallery. The transportation section has some great old cars and gas station pics. The aviation photos are killer, this must've been really fast.. Travel Air Model R (Mystery Ship) was first civilian aircraft to defeat military one in annual National Air Race in 1929.
There were several of those ****tered around Doodah - they were all Vickers stations. I think that one was up north somewhere. Used to trade at several of them. Have to keep my eye peeled for any left.
