The Tech Editors decided they were going to give me the "honor" of selecting the winner. Honor?!?! Dilemma is more like it. Trial & tribulation is pretty close too. There were, by my count, 55 tech posts considered. I read them all. I read several of them multiple times. Honor?!?! The quality of the tech posts never ceases to amaze me. So to pick just one seemed impossible once I started trying. I decided to be as objective about it as I could be & came up with the following criteria: Simplicity Clarity Skill Required Specialized Tools Required Value Cost Traditionalism Cool factor After agonizing over it for a couple days, I came down to a short list of exceptionally high quality tech posts. A gut wrenching decision, simply because there were a couple worthy posts, but I decided Dreadman's Roadster Seat Upholstery thread was the one. Congrats to Dreadman! Ryan should be in touch to get you your swag.... ...now I can sleep.
Excellent choice. Congrats Dreadman!! If you missed it, here it is: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=167878 I loved this post and the results were top notch. Good looks and no sewing involved. Maybe I should look for a new job...
You guys are killing me. I never expected to win anything. The upholstery thread was simply an idea I had to upholster my lil' roadster, cheap, easy, quick and with materials that could easely be obtained by anybody. Thanks. BUT: OLDCARMIKE, for his professional upholstery tech, should have won this, or KIWI KEV for his 10 home made tools. I'm honered. thanks
The real winners are us HAMBers who learned from those 55 posts. Way to go everybody. Tech Week rules! Tucker
That's what makes it a winner. Mike did a great job, but I think the vast majority of us don't have his skills.
I presume that Dreadman's TECH piece; AND all the other GREAT ones submitted will now reside in the TECH section for future reference.
Congrats to you! As well as to everyone who took time to teach and share knowledge. It's what its all about.!
Dreadman.....my hero! I'm getting out the sleeping bag! (inside joke) A humble guy of many talents. Well deserved. Also BIG thanks to all the tech posters. I would hate to have to pay for all the information i've learned on the HAMB. Honored to be a member.
