I just bought a 31 coupe and need to decide how to build it. It is now chopped and I will probably need to build something unchanneled as I am 6'7". I was thinking of building a 32 style frame out of 2x4 steel. How about some suggestions! I am open to all ideas as I haven't started anything yet. Here's a pic. Let me know what you think.
If I told you "you have a nice body" would you hold it against me? I say build a 32 chassis with 32 repop rails. where can you get those?
nah looks too rough and your too tall, better do a relay to me, I won't charge much to take that junk off your hands Deuce rails would look good, go high boy, no channel or you won't fit! I got a 6'6" buddy so your really gonna have squeeze in. Nice start for a hot rod!
Very nice and new wood installed too. At 6'7" I would mockup, mockup and more mockups before you mount seat, pedals and steering permanent. That is going to make a great ride, good luck and keep us updated. Vergil
Looks like about a 3" chop, Im 6' & also have a 3" chop & its a tight fit, at 6'7" you better just throw the seat away & sit on the floor, looks like a real solid start, keep us up to date.
Everything you need to know is right here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104922 .
Believe it or not...that is the original wood. Just blasted the entire body and it looked like that. This was an original car too, complete, never restored.
You are gonna need 2x6 to make it look like a 32 frame and it still wont look like a 32 try american stamping and get a set of repop rails Bill
yep the seat has got to go....i'm thinking a tractor seat..lol sweet looking coupe you have there, good luck on the mock up..rooster
Call Tim and have him box you a set of ASC rails. Locate some A crossmembers and he'll whip those up too. He gave me a good price a couple years ago. I think there are still a couple guys working out there. What kind of mill do you have/plan to obtain for that. Sometimes that gives me the idea on where to take the look. I'm diggin the chop. I'm 6,4 and like the lady said. Sometimes you have to be uncomfortable to look good! lol. Mike That doesn't mean I'd channel it though. Some floor mounted bomber seats...now that sounds good!
