took alot longer than i had planned between customer cars and being sick for a few weeks but i finnally got it to the point where i could roll it out of the garage for the first time. i wanted to do a car like a shifter cart, only the essentials, short wheel base, low, more than enough power, etc. wheel base is 95 in. and its about 4.5 off the ground at the lowest point. still having some major issues with the rear spring and the shop that fucked me on it (i had them narrow it and they didn't retemper it and won't admit it) i'll just end up having a new one made at a different shop and throwing this one through the origional shops window.
anyways here are a few pics

i think it's a fodge since the cowl is ford and the back is dodge, if the cowl was a dodge and the back ford then it'd be a dord :)

i'm not real sure what the wheels are, i've run two different styles of the dodge artilleries on other cars and if these are dodge they're earlier than the other ones i've used which were 34's and 36-7's, these are also 17" instead of 16" and made by motor wheels corp of lansing mich. i've tried the early dodge, chevy and ford hupcaps on them and nothing fits. the 32 ford stlye cap fits the hole perfect but the inner part where it locks in place is to small, i think i'll end up using them just have to figure out a way to attach them to the wheel.

oh yeah we also finally got the essex body back on the frame for the last time this week

What year is that essex? Got any extra headlights or grill you'd like to get rid of?

the essex is a 28, i think, at least that what the title said that came with it. i don't have any extra essex parts but i do have a hudson grille of around the same year, looks the same as an essex but is about an inch taller and wider, plus it has a winterfront insert.

  11. I really dig the side-view.
    Great proportions.

Very similar to what I am thinking for my '27 Roadster...
How much kick-up in the rear....15"?
What about pedal assy, and steering plans. I would be interested in seeing an interior shot as well.

    Nice job!

    Very nice, love the stance.

  18. I like it. Have you thought of chopping the grill shell?

  19. I really like the angle of the windsheild frame, they usually go to far over the top of the cowl, and are laid back too far in my opinion. I'd like to get one for my home-built roadster pickup, and do away with the existing sedan posts. My only concern is that the middle post seems to be at much more of an angle than the ends. Will the glass have to be twisted somehow, or am I missing something?

richardd the windshield was kinda a weird deal, a friend up the street works at a place that makes dna lab test equipment out of lexan, they had just got some new stuff that is supposed to be harder than glass to scratch but still easily formable with a little heat. the windshield frame does have a little twist to it to keep the glass (lexan) from coming back to far, it's angled more at the center than at the ends and has a curve through the middle, it's going to be a test to see how this lexan works. i might not even run the windshield frame on this car since i'm going to use the stock gas tank it will be a little hard to attach it from the bottom, might just save it for the next project and build one out of steel that i can weld right to the top of the tank. here's how i made the windshield http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143053

here's an interior shot, the tunnel actually isn't to bad, it sticks up about 8in. off the floor but with a 3-4in. cushion it's not in the way and acts like a wrap around seat that will hold your ass in place. this was another reason for the quick change rear, the pinion is lower than a regular rear so the tunnel doesn't have to be as tall.

i will be shortening the grill shell also, as it will run a hood top

Wow, this car really strikes a chord. It's the right combination of size, stance, wheels, etc. I'm looking forward to a full blow-by-blow.

worked on it a little more the last couple days. made the headers, started on the hood, and made a new steering wheel for it.
