`51 merc rear end swap

whats the easiest and cheapest rear to install ,and yet retain the bolt pattern.I heard the mid `70's granada was a good candidate.thanks

 

The 1951 Mercury has the 5 on 5.5 wheel pattern ..from the factory....and the Granada is 5 on 4.5 NOT the same wheel pattern....

i picked up a 71 f100 and its the same. the only thing is you have to cut off and reweld the shock mounts and leaf pads but other thasn that its a perfect fit = )

 

too bad you werent closer because i was told my ford 9 is bolt for in your car

Yo Banditomerc heres a 51 rear and a 71 rear lined up. you can see its a perfect match.


And here are the parts that will need to be cut off and welded on the opposite side. the leaf spring pad needs to come out about 3-4 inches too ( you can see the difference in the first pic
