Here's a photoshopped pic of what my car is going to look like when it is done. My question is should I chop it or not? If I do it will only be 2 1/2 or 3 inches. I think subtle chops look just as good a radical ones. I know ultimately it is my car and my decision but, can an unchopped car be just as cool as a chopped on? If anyone wants to Photo-Chop it 2 or 3 inches got for it! Todd
TPost, like you said, it's your car. Go with you gut in what you want to drive. As for my oppinion, I think GM got the proportions right when they did this car. I'm a fan of chops but why mess with a good thing? Leave the chops for a more dramatic '53/4. ...Just my oppinion.
looks pretty good as is- but a mild chop 3" frt and [4" rear] would drastically change it.............
Looks like a pretty nice car. Hard to chop those. If you don't have the necessary skills, don't chop it. Look at the G****vine or Timebomb's car here on the HAMB. Unless you think your design really improves it, put your effort into the grill and bumper treatment. Very, very few '49 - '52 Body by Fisher cars look good with a chopped roof. Maybe even less that. Verry, very few
I really feel a chop changes the whole at***ude of the car...ur car though...If it was mine and I had the dough and the time...itd be chopped.
I have a buddy of mine chopping a 53 chevy, it's a work in progress, but I've seen the car in rough stages before and after the chop, no doubt I'd chop it, that's just my opinion, but my caddy only has a 2 and 3/4" chop and I think it's just the right chop for it!!
It looks good in that picture. I always seem to like cars chopped though....here is a crude photochop attempt by me -oldrodkid
Depends what look your goin for. East Coast, chopped w/ skirts. West Coast unchopped no skirts. As far as the height, go big or go home. Subtle chops somettimes end up being more work than they are really worth.
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=291660&d=1174867156 I would not chop it, but I am a little biased I have attached a pic of my unchopped Chevy, but hey its your car....... John
heres one i did ,im new to computer chop stuff & i couldnt get the gold to look right so i changed it to white, but anyway hope this helps j.t.
Its easy for me to say chop it. Its a lot of frickin work though. Choping it is hard enough, then there is gl***!!!! Unless its a Model A chopin ain't easy.
Thanks alot...thats best part of building a Kustom you can build it anyway you like..just keep in mind its your car, I am sure what ever you decide it will be a great looking car.... timebomb
Timebomb....I can't believe I haven't seen your Chevy before....great car! I agree with Teddy...the sedans are the best chop candidates, IMO. The coupes are the hardest to get to look right and many times need the trunk pancaked, especially with there's a considerable amount taken out of the rear of the roof. Fleetlines are in their own world... I say cut it! Bryan
