Cleaned the garage on Saturday--getting ready for the spring! Woo-hoo! Worked on a welding cart on Sunday (hence my post about angle iron!) and almost finished it before I had to quit for the night. Then I played tooth fairy for my youngest niece. Did you know kids are getting like $5 per tooth nowadays? Dang, I never made more than a quarter!

Fixed the bike, rode it 5 miles, broke it again. I guess I overtorqued the generator bolts, stripping the threads and causing it to come off and short against the frame, killing the ignition. In retrospect, it could have dangled under the rear wheel by the reg wiring and caused me to dump it, so I guess I got lucky. Now, I get to figure out the wonderful world of helicoils. I hate motorcycles...

Lost storage on my 46 Ford COE, so I picked up and brought it to my house. It was the fastest ride the old girl has ever had. My grandpa bought the truck in '48 and we used it on the farm until 1985.

I did a couple of oil changes and found a Y block in a barn and bought it.

Did some patch panel work and worked on the 318 that's going into my 48 Dodge. Cleaned, painted, changed oil pump, timing set, water pump. I still need a rear sump oil pan badly. The new one I got from Summit won't fit my engine(Mopar part number P5249062). The 318 is from a 70 Dodge Coronet. Anyone got one?

Wow wish I had of been so productive. Got really drunk Friday night with two of my favourite girls, ended back at home for shooters etc etc. Great night.

Shocking day the next day cleaning out the shed, 90+ degrees hung over to ****. Nearly dropped a 34 I ton truck ch***is (****** heavy) on me, got rid of some stuff I'll never use, but now there is room for the A Tudor, the harley and room to work on them all. Really hard labour!!!!!!!!!!

  8. I worked on my daily driver.

Stupid transmission - it won't go into overdrive but other than that works fine (anyone know anything about Ford Explorer transmissions? Specifically the A4LD?). Did a fluid change, opened up the valve body and cleaned it all out, tested the shift solinoid, and put her all back together. Shifts much better but still no overdrive. Also replaced the cracked brake dust shields on teh front, did an oil change, and rotated the tires....

    I looked at the 49' Chevy...sorta.

Cleaned up the Model A after being under the cover all winter. Bled and adjusted the brakes. Checked all the fluids. And took her out for a drive . . . and then proceeded to run out of gas . . . felt like a dumb*** too! All in good fun. :)

Almost finished the A/C-heater install on my '35 sedan, it would have been done by now if I hadn't created more work for myself by insisting that the cowl vent still be functional. All I need to do now is install the dash and hope like hell that I have no leaks in the A/C end of it.....the heater doesn't leak thank God. I wish I could figure out why I always end up loosing alot of blood....cuts all over my hands.

I made some progress on saturday. Then on sunday I just stared at saturdays effort, cleaned up the garage and took the dart out of hibernation. So on Saturday I replaced the ****** crossmember on the chev. Learning as I go, but I am happy enough with what I did here. The boxes on the ch***is are only tacked in while I work out getting a brake booster under there somewhere. Its another piece of the previous owners ****py work (see the before pic!) that I can take off the todo list, and one step closer to getting back on the road :D Here are the before and afters...
    cheers

  13. Ok I finally got something done and would Mr and Mrs Roy Fields from Arlington ( circa 1965) please stand up. :D:D

I bit the bullet put my homework on the back burner and dug all the way to the floor boards of Wilbur's old hooptie this weekend. I'm pleased as hell, I found one perforated spot near the rear of the ****** hump on the drivers side and one dime sized hole in the driver side foot well for the back seat.

This after two trash bags of leaves and dirt.

Now for the best stuff, someone donated an El Camino seat(1959) in near perfect condition and it replaces the front seat perfectly, that means I can use the solid front seat backs to replace the completely rusted away rear seat back. A couple of blankets in the back and it has places from everyone to sit.

The back was originally a sort of a bucket setup in this old car with a little console between them. This car has been out in the weather for 3 years that I know of and probably eons before that with no back gl***, I opened the console and found a bank statement from an Arlington bank dated 1965 complete with cancelled checks all in perfect condition. Also under one of the seat bottoms was one Navey blue silk glove. Either someone lost it on prom night or micheal jackson was in the back seat of this old heap.

Anyway I finally got something done. Now I gotta thrash all day to make up for lost time on my homework.

I made a tray and brackets to mount a Mustang radiator and '31 shell behind the crossmember :), made a seat frame/ pan for it :), and put a stereo in my brother-in-law's Scion xB .

  15. Kamp,
No offense but I'm about as dumb as a post when it comes to later model cars. I just haven't kept up I guess.
Anyway what in the hell is a scion? I keep hearing mention of rows of 'em at cars shows etc and would really like to know what one is.

I love this weekly thread -- keeps me motivated.

Got the body off the Model A and pulled the engine and trans for another HAMBer. This is a father/son project, so my son, age 14, was helping. It also helps that he's playing football and training with weights -- made a big difference when it came time to lift the body off the frame. We rolled it back on the rear to knock all the rust and **** out of the floor, then set it down on wood pallets for now.

Next step is to remove the old suspension and go back with a 32 axle and reverse-eye spring up front, and a 9-inch in back.

Dropped the rear of my '51 f1 4" and the front 3"

Thinned out the spring pack in the rear and cut the coils in the front.
Shouldn't have taken me 6 hours but I took out bits at a time and re***embled everything to check the height. When it wasn't low enough i went back and did it again.

I already posted this in another thread, but....

I built this package tray for my '64 Olds. The speaker grilles are from the center of the back seat of a couple of later 60's Olds convertibles. I cut down the bracketry that they mount on and welded some studs on to hold them down, put some 6x9's in them and finished off the ends with some plastic grained cutouts.

I thought I'd knock this out in a couple hours but it took me all day Sunday to do it. I think it turned out nice though.

Put new valve cover gasket and side pan gasket on the 235. cleaned up (as good as they'll get for now) a set of 54 taillights and put em on. Plugs and wires. Tried putting on a split manifold I got from the guy I picked up the car from but they don't fit. Figures (see my add in the wanted section hah). Cleaned up the garage and got a new compressor. I know I'm getting stuff done but it just doesn't feel like it sometimes.
