if there is a place someone on here will know about it. in my experience everyone seems to sell them at about the same price, so save on shipping and go to your local advance auto parts store
Hey, here I usally go to the Interstate guy they have used batteries and here they almost always have some optimas (they're used in wacker ********y rollers) I get them for $25 each
i bought one from here, cheapest i could find, (for a 6 volt anyway) and free shipping too. i'm pretty sure it was fed-ex. check em out http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/
Last fall, they were shipping lots of Optimas to our guys and gals in Iraq, had a bit of a shortage here in Tucson. I don't know if it's "your turn" for a shortage, our prices went back to $110 and in stock again.
What's the difference from the Red to the Yellow? CCA?? Red should work for a simple coupe right... (HOPE I'M NOT HIJACKIN A THREAD?? WOOPS)
costco out here...$139. this weekend.. price was $99. last fall..price of lead (all s****) is skyrocketing.. the wrecking yards are crushing everything they can get their hands on.. dave
I can't believe that this thread has gotten this far and nobody has whined about non-traditional batteries.....
Just bought a red top from Costco and they just went up to $120.00ish (they were $99.00ish). Don't know if they went up in price everywhere or just at Costco
I sure hope your not gonna put that in a Model A or sumpin.. Its not traditional There I said it.. Dave
Here's the deal on a red top versus yellow top... real basic like... just "rule of thumb" not all scientific. So all the geeks can keep the calculators turned off. I'm not shooting for the square root of the flux capacitor charging zone to the northern side of the eqautor during the southern equinox when compared to the amperage of the resistor type of answer. When/if the red top dies down low enough that the engine won't turn over, you put the charger on it. Problem is; it's only gonna charge up to 3/4 of the last charge. Then it dies again; pull the charger back out. But it's only gonna charge to 3/4 of the 3/4 charge it had last time... And so on until it's just good for a core exchange. The yellow top is a deep cycle, like s.r.i said. And yes, it works great for all the B*** Nazi's out there with the "thumpin tunes". I used to design and install custom audio systems for Sound Advice and Tweeter. With the deep cycle, it will always charge back up to full capacity so it has much better "life" than the red top. Spend the extra for the yellow top, it'll last MUCH longer. I've had one last me 8 years!!! Well worth the extra jack spent initially.
hiddin in the trunk of the 41' where no one will ever know its there but you guys.... sssshhhh don't tell
yeah, I had a price increase on the popular ones about a week ago. Most of them have gone up $25-30 over the last year. No. I can't sell you one. I'm wholesale. I can, however, sell one to any of the HAMB Alliance vendors at a deal. But shipping on a battery would add $20-25 and defeat the deal.
Thanks, those are good prices. The closest Costco to me is Atlanta, over 180 miles. It's cheaper to deal with these guys with gas going up every day. Were you happy with their service? Thanks!
you are quite incorrect. No battery will charge back to its fullest cpacity. The Optima Deep Cycle will hold a smaller CCA charge longer then an Optima Red top (Starting Battery). Even with the correct charging program (yeah there is a long drawn out equation to charge a battery correctly) it will never go back to it's full capacity. I have never seen a car that needed 850 CCA so in 99.9% of the hotrods in the world the use of a Optima Deep Cycle will be a better purchase the a red top because of it's ability to retain a lower CCA then the red tops ability to push out a higher but quicker CCA. I could get more in depth with plate thikness and length compared to chemical percentages of pastes and acids but it isnt necessary. Oh, and by the way, I was a designer for Optima Batteries for about half of the 1990s.
Hmmmm...I'm gonna call ya out on this Dave....hahaha! There is a place here in Tacoma on the tide flats that deals with used batteries.....he has a ton of good, used, red top's he gets from the Military. Ya see, if a rig won't start, the Military immediately replaces the battery, regardless, and this guy gets them, recharges 'em and sells 'em...I have 2, paid $30 ea., and both have worked GREAT for the past 3 years...... Are ya 100% positive???? I deal with ALOT of deep cycle batteries for DC scissor lifts......as long as the batteries are kept full of water, and the plates don't get exposed.....they charge back 99.9999999999%...OK so it's not it's fullest capacity....I forget......
my neighbor owns a small hardware store...he said his battery man had a bunch of red top batteries for $40....i guess the catch was that they were (i think) a year old....something about the batteries coming from cop cars after a year of service.....no warranty, etc....... i put it in my tractor and it seems fine but i've only had it two days...
