Don't know if you all heard but EELCO is making a 3x2 for the low-decks as soon as they get enough order signups. Supposed to be 5 or 6 people away from taking our deposits and making intakes. Should be less than $400 from what he said. 4x2 (still waiting on Charlie) and 6x2 looks cool but 3x2 progressive will run good on a 276 or 291 with 94s, 97s or 2gs. I want a couple real bad so somebody else please signup. I have seen the old ones go through Feebay for over a grand. Hate to buy 6 just to get it rolling but I'm thinking about it.:D

Do they already have a casting for the 330/341/345?

still waiting on the 6x2. seems marty designed it on a desoto long block without the distributor in place. they were cast and machined and when someone went to bolt one on, oh-oh, no room for the distributor to go back in.

  7. I'm interested in a 3x2 for a 291, but the above comment scares me a little. laying out close to 400.00 bucks and then it not fit wouldn't be cool.

  8. You can count me in....so long as it is gonna fit when it is finished like the other guys said. I have a 276 needing one. Contact info would be great here....

I know these guys pretty well and have bought a lot of parts from them. As with any company; mistakes can happen. I know that when the problem was found it was corrected and new manifolds are being shipped to anyone who recieved an error intake. Can't ask for better than that in my opinion and I wouldn't hesitiate to buy one for myself. Except I have a caddy mill!

Also, it will be nice for an intake that's about the same heighth as the origanal intakes so it can fit under the hood of a '55 Desoto.

I can say that Marty is ok. I bought over 2 grand worth of nailhead stuff and he came through with all of it! The dual quad intake took a little time but the quality was top noch .

Keep us informed as I want one too. Please no goofy logos or dot coms note cast on top. Ok, I could just mill off that stuff...

    Wow what an old thread.
I put up money for 3 intakes. I ended up getting 2 of the 6x2 intakes instead from Marty for display projects and 1 of the 3x2s at some future date when they are done (money still on the table for that one). I haven't talked to Marty in a while but no progress that I am aware of. I should call him and see what's going on with it. I will let you all know. I like the 3x2 look and I planned on doing a setup on my 32 3 window like I did on this one. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329626
I know lots of people hate the dichromate look that I did on those carbs but I like it and it was a pain to get just right.

I ended up buying a Weiand 4x2 off Ebay (the only cheap one that ever went through there). Think I am going to use that if my car ever gets built. It took Charlie a lot of years and promises to make his 4x2 so who knows maybe the 3x2 will show up someday. The only problem with 4x2s is you are locked into using 97s a problem that didn't get fixed when Charlie made his. He said the spacing just doesn't work for 94s with the ports.

There is another guy on here that made a 3x2 for the talldeck and I offered to give him a lowdeck intake to figure out what needed to be modified but shipping was an issue. He seems like a straight-shooter making really nice stuff. I didn't mind donating an intake but shipping to New Zealand (think that is where he lives) would have been nuts.

This is an old thread, BUT,...Today 29 Jan 09 Ebay has Desoto Hemi manifolds!
New Eelco 6X2 log that ends 18:15 pst 30 Jan 09.
New single 4bbl high rise for low blocks 276-291 & it ends at 16:34 pst 3 Feb 09.
Factory iron 2X4 for tall blocks & it ends at 15:50 pst 4 Feb 09.
These are NOT mine, I don't work for ebay. I have Chrysler Hemis & know how hard it is to find parts.
    Good Luck.

That would be me, thanks for the kind words. Tracked down a lowdeck Desoto Hemi while travailing over the last couple of weeks and the guy is happy to make it available for us to make a manifold. It will be bassed on the same design as the raised block version and I want to use the same top plates.
I appreciated your offer of a manifold but with a complete engine avalible it makes life so much easier
Will keep you posted on progress
    Cheers

  23. I ended up going with a low deck single 4 bbl that again Ebay came through for $180 and is was aluminized coated back in the day. It looks awesome but..... oxidizes.
In the 3 years of 276-291s, only 10% of the 291s got 4 bbls. No 276 came with one.
