I noticed that recently any thread where the deal appears to be done gets "Closed". I'm not sure I agree with this tactic. I can count numerous occasions where the deal appeared to be done but nothing more came of it. Shoot if it weren't for some of those I wouldn't have bought certain items. Plus I like to know the history if there is a history. Believe me, I'm not the only one that pays attention to what sellers are slow to ship, or slow to do anything. As well as who is slow paying or backs out of deals. One example that if I hadn't bumped it it would have been forgotten, was I was purchasing an item from NitroFC, I thought the deal was done, but he never replied to PM's and never rechecked the thread. I chocked it up to well it must have gone somewhere else. 2 months later, NitroFC checked his original thread, and saw that there I was trying to buy the thing. So we finally got the deal done. Under the current "Close" threads, that would have never happened. What is the reasoning behind closing the threads? Why not let the ones that have transacted expire the the back pages and eventually to the depths of the HAMB?
There are a couple reasons. 1. Some people request we close them. 2. We close the ones that are likely to keep discussion going. This is not the discussion forum. If the deal is done we've done our jobs and the addition of any "Dang, I sure wanted that" or "Who bought it?" or worse, "I can't believe someone paid that for it!" comments don't help. All of those things would be better sent by PM in the same way that anyone can inquire about a done deal if they hope it's still available. If someone wants their ad opened back up they can just PM us and we'll do it. SO, I guess your last question is the answer to itself. That make any sense?
What is the most efficient method to get an ad closed or deleted? I had a request this morning for items for sale in an ad that I posted last year. I did edit the ad to show 'sold', but it is still out there. I'm just thinking about conserving bandwidth... Dan
You can close it yourself by using the "Go Advanced" option. (I think, let me know if I'm wrong). But thansk for helping make my point. Oh yeah, I forgot to add, some ads are closed by the person who posted them.
Well, It seems there was a point in time in which users could close their own threads but it was a glitch.
