I just picked up a 38 topolino all steel body with a t bucket ch***is and a few more parts and pieces from a friend of mine whos getting out of the buisness of collecting projects he will never do. Lucky me. Now I am wondering (and reading) how I am gonna regester this thing. I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know where the original VIN is supose to be on the body and the frame? The first thing they did in the 60's was throw that **** away, but one of you might know. A ***le that has lost its car would be worth some good cash to me as well. Thanks
The Fiat I used to have, had an aluminium plate with the VIN number stamped on it, riveted on the firewall left side. The vin started with the number 500 (Model name) I do not remember finding the number any other place on the car.
it should be stamped on a panel (as in not on a plate) as well as on a plate, the panel was in front of the engine behind the grill. Mine was anyway. If you PM me I'll give you the number and you can do what you like with it..at least it'll be a genny number even if it's a 1950 one. If you contact the Fiat Historical Society in Turin they will send you conformation of the build date and are really helpful.
This is what I have found out. It is on the tag on the firewall and the engine block. Nothing on the frame. Mine has no engine or firewall. 5 digits? Like "50016" something like that? no letters?
