I bought a set of Coker Cl***ic G78s for my Olds about 6 months ago. Shortly after I had them mounted I noticed one of them had a few small cracks around the edge of the white wall. No big deal, it was just a few 1/4in long spots and you could hardly notice them. Well I was washing my car today and noticed that it has gotten alot worse. It is turning into one big *** crack that really pisses me off. I only clean them with Simple Green so there is no reason it should be cracking. Has anyone had the same problem with Cokers and does anyone know if I can hide it alittle with some shoe polish or something.
never seen that on cokers. check out this tire paint it's pretty bad***, it doesn't crack or fade or discolor...i like it alot tirepaint: http://www.mbzponton.org/valueadded/other/tirepaint.htm
Id try to send it back, I didnt have that problem with my g78s, but my center tread started to separate and I called them up and I had no problems, they sent a fed ex truck to my house the next day to pick up my tires and a received a new one a few days later
Sorry I just now saw this guys... the crack looks bad, I don't believe I would run it. Looks like a stress crack. Call Jess Hoodenpyle at 1 800 251 6336. We will fix it. All the best, Corky Coker
Send em back to coker they have a really good return policy I'm sure they would take care of you on new ones. LTR Dave
I was actually looking in the Coker catalog tonight towards my new A sedan. Once I saw the pic, I was like ****, guess I'll go a different route,,,,UNTIL I scrolled down and saw Cokers answer. Thats the guy I want supplying my tires.
I drive my roadster a lot. I've worn out 3 sets of Cokers and never had a problem but their reputation for service is what keeps me coming back.
I'm just wondering why you wouldn't have contacted Coker first. Things like this cracked tire happen, even though they shouldn't. But our opinion is just that, an opinion. Give the guy you bought the item from the chance to make it right instead of asking on a forum.
I want to say thanks to Corkey Coker for being so dedicated to this hobby that we all love so much. You do alot for us "little guys", and your company makes a damned fine product with exceptional service. It's nice to know that there are still companies and entrepenuers out there that stand behind what they do and make. I've purchased several sets of tires from your company and I'll continue doing so with confidence. Thank you sir.
I wonder if this is a problem with the G78s, I have a set on my 54 Chevy and after 300 miles one whitewall completely separated when I was going down the highway at speed. Returned the tire to Coker and was told it would not be covered because it looked like it was caused by road damage, not a tire defect. I had completely checked the intire inside area of the tire and could not find a puncture or damage for the life of me. Needless to say I was more than a little dissapointed, but I had to buy another tire to match the remaining three I had on the car. I did get it for 20 less than they cost me before, but it still didn't smooth things over. Parked the car after about 750 miles on the tires. I guess I should check them to see if they are still cracking out. Don't want to test my luck again trying to keep the car on the road after major tire failure. Geno
