i dont get it, surely this is a simple request about cars?? how come i get no replys to a car queery but theres 2 pages about les paul??? please if any you guys can help i really appreciate it. cheers steve
Steve, Good to see you on the HAMB again - hadn't seen you on here in a while. Not that I'll be any help with your non-Ford brakes, but I think the problem is most folks use the early Ford stuff because it's just what's done. No help, I know - I'll shut up now. Cheers!
I dont rememember seeing any of those swaps written up in the old days either. Since 39-40 juicers were so readily available that is what was used. In fact most of the cars I used to build decades ago were Buicks, Hudson, Lafayette and similar since the brakes, steering and suspensions were so much better than Ford. Also a lot easier to drop in virtually any OHV V8.
isnt ther a saying that theres nothing new in hotrodding?? oh well, guess ill just figure it out for myself.i want this to be a really early style, hence no 39 brakes cos there too new!! hi ernie, yeah just gettin in the swing of things again now im on my feet.divorce is in progress, so dont let on that i just got me a 30 coupe body, hood, sides, grille shell, headlites and a 32 dash!!! steve
Wasn't Rocky adapting Buick backing plates to Ford spindles sohe could run all Buick parts with finned aluminum drums?
This post from a while ago mentioned using VW and Mini wheel cylinders in early V8 brakes. You may be able to do something similar with Model A brakes ? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB1&Number=132064&
Plymouth juicers are what Ed Iskenderian used on his '24 when he built it in 1940 - I believe Mopars from that era were all 5 on 5.5 if you want to retain that bolt pattern.
Called a brake energizer kit.$39.95 does all four wheels. Have sold thousands to the early Ford V-8 guys.
Someone told me that the barn fresh channeled '28 roadster that showed up at the Roundup had hydraulic converted Model A or '32 brakes. I don't know if anyone can get a shot of it with the drum off, but that might get you some answers.
hey vaphead, are they hydraulic?? or do they fit the mechanical brakes??more info please, they look good!!! cheers steve
