Ken & Vicky are stranded en route to Roundup.

The pink Caddy is in a bad way & they need a place to keep her.

They are @ exit 38 on I-20 just out side of Shreveport La.

    Phone #'s are 864.414.2818.......864.414.3792

Again, they are just hoping for a place nearby to store the car so they can rent a turd to get em on into Austin.

  2. I can vouch for them...GOOD PEOPLE...someone needs to take care of them!

  7. Less. Ken had already talked to Doc by the time I called. They are in VERY good hands, Doc is a heckuva guy.

  8. Doc's a ruler.
Ken and Vicki are the best.
And as usual, the HAMB rocks.

But what's wrong with the Caddy? I saw pics of it this week, and if it don't make it to TX it's a shame, cause that fresh pink paint is awesome!

  9. From the sound of it, the Caddy is still going to make it to Austin.

The caddy is having major engine issues. AAA is sending a flatbed to pick up the Caddy and take it to Doc's right now. When Doc gets off work at 9pm they will load the Caddy on Doc's trailer. Ken and Vicki will spend the night at Doc's and leave first thing in the morning using Doc's truck and trailer and haul the Caddy to the South Austin Speed Shop where they already had plans to leave the car after the RoundUp to have the interior done. They will then drive the truck and trailer back to Doc's on Sunday and fly home outta Shreveport instead of Austin.

They will be at Reggies tomorrow for BBQ and don't plan on missing a step in the event schedule! Way NOT to let alittle blip in the plans ruin a GREAT weekend.

Doc is, well beyond cool, beyond my hero. God didn't make them any better then him!

  12. You mean Doc's not going to let them drive the Lunar Lander to Austin? :D

Not only WOULD he let them drive the Lander, he would let them drive ANYTHING in his stable I'm sure.......Ken and Vicki REALLY want the Caddy NOT to miss it's interior slot at the SASS.

    ONE MORE SLEEP!:D

Man, that Doc guy is really cool. I hope I'm in his neighborhood when I break down some day.

Or at least to stop by and say 'Hi!'

  22. Doc,

You are a true gentleman and all around fine human being. Not many people like you left in this old world.

This is one of the most moving posts that I have ever read. Ain't it great to be part of a Hot-Rod community with so many wonderful people involved..... I have never read anything negative about Hot Rodders, other than their cars make too much noise and some times they smoke their tires. When was the last time you read that some horendous crime was committed by a Hot Rodder ??? Never I'll bet :) :) :) Even though I am mostly a "lurker", it is good to know there are a lot of nice folks out there that you can count on.

Cheif, I agree with you that Doc is a true gentleman and all around fine human being. However, I disagree that there are not many left in the world like him. The world is full of good people, you just dont hear about them as often as we should. Most of the good people I know go about their lives in a very low key manner, not calling attention to themselves. The HAMB is full of people that would give you the shirt off of their back. The most recent example is the rescue of Ken, Vicky and the Slick50 and all of the people that offered their help. I bet for every person that did offer their help there are 50 people that read the post that wanted to help but wer too far away. My little world is full of hot rodders, racers and bikers and I know that if I ever need help it is only a phone call (or post) away. I guess my point is, their are still alot of good people in the world and you dont have to look far to find them, you dont hear about them much because they usually wont blow their own horns.

Yes. I agree with this 110%. I've seen more good gestures go down because of the HAMB brother/sisterhood. It's said time and time again... this board is amazing for the content... but it's the people that really make it special.

If this went down in California... New Jersey... Michigan... or Missouri I bet we would see the same result!

    VIVA la fucking HAMB!

  26. From Ms. Slick50:
Once again, we cannot thank everyone enough for all their help with our ordeal especially Doc. Yes our Caddy did make it for its Fat Lucky interior appointment but that is not what kept our spirits up it was the generosity of everyone with all their concern. Lux Blue is helping with overseeing the engine repair for that we are very thankful too.
I must share this last part with you - since we were leaving the Caddy in Austin we had tickets to fly back to SC on Monday morning. We wanted to change the tickets to fly out of Shreveport instead of Austin since we needed to return Doc's truck and trailer to him. Do you believe that NW Airlines wanted $2,500 to change the one leg of our tickets stating that they would have to cancel everything and start over? At that point after sensing
Ken's frustration I leaned over to him and suggested he say to the airline rep.,"you're not a HAMBer are ya?" At this point we are in Forest, Mississippi for the night driving a rental car with just under 500 miles to go tomorrow until we are home.
I'm sure that all will end well and am almost anxious for when it is our turn to help a stranded HAMBer in SC.
Thanks Doc from the bottom of our hearts we will forever be greatful and everyone.
Ken says I must make sure I sign this in case it sounds too mushy !!

Wish I had known you were coming this way! I could have put you up for the night. You are less than 45 minutes from me.

Well good luck on the rest of your tirp, and maybe our paths will cross some day.

  29. Those airline people can really make you mad. Sorry to hear about the caddy going down. Hope it isn't too serious. Glad you guys found your way and it is awesome to hear about the help you got. In less than a half hour!
