I've been scouting google images, flickr, and some low rider sites looking for some design inspiration for my 1960 Impala. Aside from lowering it a few inches, the only other changes I'm plannning are new paint and rims/tires. Since I'm in the plannning stage I thought it might be best to pester some of you hoping that a few photos might surface. Any interesting colors or design elements that you could share? Thanks.
IMHO - some cars were done right the first time. This one qualifies. Lower it, paint it, but don't f... with it.
New paint and rims don't need "designing/planning" or even contemplation...now if you're considering a mural on the trunk to go with the low-rider stance...or some fades or panel painting, or some mtetalflake-ing, then you'd need a road map... If not, paint it your favorite color, slap some favorite rims on it and drive it... R-
From reading your post, it doesn't sound like you are planning any serious changes, I just wanted to agree with oldguy. I've never seen a '60 with major customizing that, to me personally anyway, looked better than basically stock. Mine has been nosed, had the "hashmarks" and spears removed from the front fenders, had the backup lights converted to taillights,is lowered a little bit and is running Supremes. For me, thats about all it needs.Good luck on your project.
I guess I was not clear. I'm actually not planning anything in the way of big changes but was more interested in seeing some colors, flake in particular, that others have chosen for this particular year. Playing around in photoshop can give the basic idea but I thought some photos of actual projects might sway me towards one color family. I seem to drool over most flaked cars so 'paint it your favorite color' means 20+ colors to me right now.
Color wise - I have a thing for that deep pearl white. Never had a car that color, not even sure what make uses it, lexus or cadillac I think. But it just reeks of pure high tone cl*** - I think it would be perfect on a 60 chevy.
I think '60 Chevys don't need much to make them look good. Guys living down the street when we were growing up had one and put a tube grille in it, painted it gold metalflake, and added chrome reverse wheels. That was in about '68. I also think good old candy apple red would look good. The pearl white mentioned above would be ok too, but would need some scallops to break it up. I see that color on a lot of Cadillacs. Check out carnut.com for pictures of '60 Chevys. Red
JoeG, you dont need anything for those car..they ****!!! ill save you the embar***ment of being seen in it...give it to me!! honestly though i LOVE those cars, lower it, paint it, rims, tires, drive!
