I went to an old wrecking yard the other day to round up a set of F1 shock mounts for a car that I'm building and scored a set for 20 bucks. I noticed that a lot of guys on here are looking for F1 parts.
The guy that I bought my mounts from had at least 6 48 to 52's and another half a dozen 53 to 56 pick ups. There is another guy that has 3 F1's sitting out to pasture that said I could have all 3, but they're about 100 miles away. To me the parts just aren't worth enough to drive that far for, unless I'm missing something. What all parts from 48 to 56 are good for hot rod material, and what is a fair going rate for them? If they're worth my while, I'll go get them.

hard to find good sheetmetal (fenders, boards) for 48-52.
You can get most stuff for 53 - up alot easier.
I had to make my metal for my fenders on my wife's 49'..

Are there any good parts that can be used for hot rod parts like the front shock mounts?

I would be interested in a pair of rear fenders depending on the price. I'm looking for ones w/o that Michigan Patina (rust:D )

Lots of people are using the front brake setups (hubs, backing plates, etc.) as they can easily be put on early ford spindles with just slight modification. And of course the shock mounts and fenders. :D

i have heard that the rods in truck blocks are heavier than p***enger cars so the flatmotors might be worth your while if not cracked

There's a place in Seguin (Seh geen) Tx that some of us rodders call Candyland. He's got acres of old iron and it takes hours to walk the whole place. The last time I was there we only did the Ford section, it took us all afternoon. He has about 20-30 F1's and F100, 30-40 mid-late 40's coupes and sedans, 40-50 50's, over 100 60's cars and trucks, and the list goes on...
If you can get there and haven't got enough cash, he'll put your stuff on lay-away. He put's it in a separate yard and you can make payments on it till it's payed for. If you do a transaction over the phone, he will do shipping. Here's a couple of items to wet your appe***e. 1941 Ford pick up, complete except for gl*** and left rear fender, has engine, trans, rearend, with ***le-$1500. 1971 Ford F100 Shortbed, 396 Chev engine, auto trans, power steering, can be driven home, has small hole in exhaust system, with ***le-$1200.

    Here's his info:

    John's Salvage Company
    2020 Fox Trotter Rd

His place is located 6 miles south of town off Hwy 123 South.
