As some of you know, I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the tires and wheels on my '29 RPU. I've got to replace the tires, that much has become pretty much a given here, but I've come across some wide whites and am trying to figure out what would be best and look the best.

I'm not going to change to a different wheel, but only possibly the color of the wheels. I've thought about going to a taller tire and possibly wheel combo on the back, but I haven't really given it that much thought. Keep in mind I'm on a bit of a budget here, so bear with me a bit. I'd like to see it with the wide whites and without for different colors as have been suggested.

Anyway, here's the RPU picture! Thanks in advance to those who help!

Also, is there a stripper (not the ****ie kind) in or around the Tulsa area who could do these wheels? I'd prefer to media blast them prior to painting to ensure I can get the wheels to hold the new color.

That really looks different! I was thinking about going with a reddish color for the wheels, but I'd L-O-V-E to see them in several different colors that would accent the truck. I'm open to all sorts of suggestions color-wise.

Thanks for the help with the whites!

Somewhat quick and dirty, but they give a fair idea of the colour combinations, IMHO.

FWIW, I think the wires matched to the body colour works well.

    You're welcome :D

That looks great! I'm torn between the red and the black actually. Add a pin-stripe around the rim and the hub cap that matches the body, and that is sweet! I'm sold!

Again, for fast and dirty, that looks great!

I'm no good at this stuff, but you might consider apple green or pale yellow. Factory Ford colors might work well given the truck's current - um - al***ude.

That yellow is a lot to compete with - maybe a more subdued wheel
    color would complement it better.

Personally, I kind of like the white.

I like the white too, but after 30 years of - for lack of better wording - neglect, the single stage acrylic enamel paint is beginning to show rust coming through the paint.

There are plans to lower the back down some, but all in time. I'll need to move to smaller tires in the front for clearance, and then drop the rear down accordingly. Until then, this is the way she'll ride. I may try going up a bit in the front to clear, but again, until then....

  12. man, that ****er sure looks like ralph malph's hot rod. lose the fenders nd hood, some red 40 ford wheels, and it's happy days all over again!

cool truck. i like the black wires. take 'em to a powder coater and they'll media blast them before coating!

I'm not completely in love with the black, but damn - it does look great with the black wheels with yellow pinstriping on it. I just like the wheels to be in the forefront and not faded into the background. The black seems to hide them, if that makes sense.

I'd like to see this last scheme done in the red with the yellow stripes. After that, who knows!

Thanks for the illustrations guys! Jon, this looks great!

    Hey Jonathan,

Looks great! I'll probably go with the black-n-yellow. I'll be talking with a powdercoater here in Tulsa or Broken Arrow about doing them in black. I'm also looking to have the wheels pinstripped. Now I've just gotta buy the tires!

Is there a type of 'disc' or something that I could make or put behind the wheels between the hub and the wheel that'll make the black spokes "pop"?

Does what I'm describing make sense? I like the black, but I'm afraid the spokes will just disappear and not look as good. If this does make sense, is there a color that'll look right, but not off the wall stupid?

Thanks for all the help so far!
