Which style would you do.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tugmaster, Mar 30, 2007.

  1. Well I made a decision I am not going to chop my car. Thanks to all of those who replied to my question about chopping. My next "dilema" What style to do the car.

50's style: straight drop, painted steelies, spyder caps, Gold roof and scallops.

Or.... More of a 60's look. raked to the rear, Astro Supremes with W/W's Scallops. I am not going to run the lakes pipes in the pic.

I am kinda sold on the black and gold. I really like the contrast.

    What do ya think???

  2. I posted the wrong pic of the 50's style. Here's the right one.

70's. Panel it. Cragers or spokes with a crushed velour interior. You'll be styling.

I like 'em both, but if it were mine, I'd go with the lower pic.

if you were considering chopping the top then painting the roof gold is 180 dgrees in reverse, the gold roof makes it stand out even more and reminds me of a bald head. IMO the thick roof line of that car should not be flaked, if it was a 60's car with a thin roof like a riviera it would look good.

i dig the gold roof with the supremes but ixnay on the scallops.

they don't look bad by anymeans but less is more in my opinion.
nice clean and simple will always look good.

  12. I'd go all satin black, keep the scallops & drop the front end a bit. Those are supremes not astros.Look closer;).Lose 'em & find some nice sprnners.

I guess there's some irony in that since I'm bald:D I was also thinking of doing the rool from the driprals up in gold and the window frames and rest of the body in black. that may make the roof look less "bulkey"

50's version needs full hubcaps! 57 Caddies, 55 or 56 Olds, Plymouths, whatever!

I'd go for black with white scallops. It seems to have that special "something" that sets it off.

I'm afraid that gold roof looks uh, uh, uh.....hmmmm....not my style..

  20. I like the steelies and www's myself. Not sure about the black w/ gold scallops though. I'd be more inclined to look through the old paint chips and find some obscure color that doesn't get used much. Black is more than overdone. Just my $.02
