i just found out they p***ed it in january 2006 . you can run year of manufacture plates. now i just need to find a 1951 truck plate.
Do you have a link to a site with this information so I have it when I go and try to do this. I have had a 29 plate an my sedan since it hit the road and have not been stopped. I have the current plate in the car, but would like to get it done legally if possible.
I would like to hear more on this too. I heard at a recent swap meet that this legislation was not going to be allowed until 2008? I have a 58 plate all ready to go!
I think that the legislation has p***ed, but it doesn't go into effect until 2008. Here's a link to the other thread about this: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=136236&highlight=indiana+plates
I get some dirty looks on the '69.... but I have a Texas '69 plate on the front since Indiana only cares about the back plate. I used to get called "Naz" a lot in school for some reason, so I thought it fitting that a 440 powered car be carrying "NZS 440" from 1969 on it. I almost bought a Texas Farm Truck 1937 plate for the Hudson... until its price shot through the roof.
I wonder what a cop would do if you were running a year of make plate but had the current one with you?You think it would depend weather he was an ***hole or not?
I have also wondered about this. If I ever get stopped I have planned on telling the nice officer that we had been taking pictures of the car and had for got to change the plate back. Then change the plate and hope he lets me go on my marry way. My dad said this sounded like a good story as long as I dont get stopped by the same cop twice. I have been folowed by cops both state and local with this plate on and the headers open and have not been pulled over. I think as long as you are not being an idiot most of the cops are pretty understanding of the hot rods.
my freind actually does it all the time. as far as the law, i seen it in the ISRA booklet. i will find out more myself.
i found this http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0geuqq9h1xF6FIA6R1XNyoA?p=HB+1150+license+plate+law&prssweb=Search&ei=UTF-8&fr=my-vert-web-top&x=wrt goto #1 if it helps...
I did that but BMV said looked to much like a truck plate and made me add another digit. I suppose some would be ok however. Bob
What about the part that you licence the vehicle as an antique motor vehicle in order to do this? I'm su****ious of that part. Aren't there mileage restrictions when it's considered an antique motor vehicle? Like you can drive it in the parade and in a few car shows but don't exceed 7500 miles a year! Someone straighten me out here. Does anyone have the current antique designation on their car that can shed some light on this?
the lady at my county bmv told me that to qualify for antique plates the indiana state police had to inspect your vehicle........ guess ill just run regular plates if thats the case......
The Indiana law for yom plates goes into effect in 2008. You can get the antique plates now if you want to but they have restrictions on them. I'm waiting till next year to run my original '32 plate on the sedan.
