Image above by Hat man. It was a pretty gloomy affair on Wednesday last week. Rain was coming down hard, forecasts called for more all weekend, and the Kontinentals ... <BR><BR>To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
No doubt, they have some luck on their side. This isn't the first year that the clouds parted for this show. God loves the hot rods.
Not gonna lie... when I got into A-town Thursday night I was kinda bummed. Lots of rain and dreary as hell, even halfway through Friday. But the weather let up in time for some fun on S. Congress Friday night and the hot rod gods were definitely smiling down on the expo center on Saturday. What a kick *** show. Big thanks to everyone who made it happen. - Matt
We didn't know until Friday at 12:00 noon that we were taking the roadster. The Hot Rod Guy in the Sky was smiling on me all the way to Austin from Houston as I watched gray clouds turn to blue sky. It was an awesome trip and we were lucky enough to stay Friday through Sunday. Met a lot of great people from the HAMB and elsewhere. Damn good event.
Well? We're waiting Ryan! Ya got that report yet? j/k! Ryan. I can't wait till I get home from work tonight (or tomorrow) to hear what ya have to say on the LSR this year. A big thanx to those that went and posted pics already. Made the rest of us feel like we were there. "VIVA LA HAMB"!!! KNUX!
Well, I had my doubts about it being at the Expo center, but that was a good show. Nice not having to pay for parking too. Great job to all involved. We had a great weekend.
We had a great time, thanks to everyone who set it up on short notice. Any one get a final number on how many cars showed up?
The trip for us started out under cloudy skies as we headed down I-35 Friday from , me in my Model A Pickup, sandwiched between two buddies tailoring their rides down. About 45 minutes in one of the trailers in front of us blew tires near <ST1<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com so he peeled out of our "Convoy", waving us onward into the ever present dark clouds ahead. As we entered <ST1<st1:City>Waco</st1:City><st1:State>TX</st1:State></ST1 light specs of rain danced on my "Rain-ex'd" windshield like rejects from American Idol. By the time we were in <ST1<st1laceType>Temple</st1laceType><st1laceName>TX</st1laceName></ST1, a full blown monsoon was in effect and the Rain-Ex" product was working pretty good too, until the 15th Rig in a row went screaming by throwing overspray on us. So, our buddy with the trailer kept lurching forward in the "Mother of all Storms". I pulled off, g***ed up and wiped down the windshield with another treatment. We pulled into A-town about an hour later, and headed towards the <ST1Riverside</ST1lace to hit Congress. Lucked out and found a spot in front of the Jap joint and enjoyed their 2-dollar beer all night watching the kewl cars arrive. Great cruising and show out there Friday Night. The Main Event Saturday at the <ST1<st1laceName>Expo</st1laceName><st1laceType>Center</st1laceType></ST1lace was Grade A and watching all those cars pull in was better than any TV show out there. Add some kick *** music and great people and you have the formula for a successful show. Saturday after the show, the Patron Saint of Gear heads must have been smiling down on me as we found another parking spot on Congress. Only one "casualty" out there that I'm aware of, one guy from the <st1:City><ST1Mansfield</ST1</st1:City> area had his Panel Wagon swiped by a Delivery Van, minor damage though. Sunday, the ride back to Cowtown was fine, minor overheating but what the heck, it was a pretty day and the Blue Bonnets are blooming so no biggie to pull off and wait. Great Show Kontinentals! Thanks for all your hard work and planning. See you next year!
