I just bought this truck and is in decent condition. I know it might not be old enough but is all original and is from a pontiac dealer that oppened in the 30's. Also the owners father invented the slotcar, but that is another story. It runs and has 39,258 original miles. 307 or a 350, i didn't check the block yet, # speed oh the column no power anything. Should i do a total restoration or lower it and hot rod it. Any pics that you have would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure it's safe, and dependable.
If you're gonna be around Rods a truck is alwasy useful and Trucks don't require beauty.

I would drive it as is, do nothing to it. My 69 C-20 chevy is like that.

  6. Just leave it alone, a true hot rodder will recongnise it as a cool piece of history.

Mostly leave it alone. They're only original once.

Looks like it's had a lil rust repair to the doors. The lettering is still enough to copy to perfection. I see several dents and dings. How much sentimental value does it have to the community? The mileage could be 139258 unless you know for sure it isn't. What would I do...I'd restore the body back to it's gennie condition and re-letter it, with paint (no vinyl shit!!) and you could still drop it some and drive it as is, or maybe add some decent rims. Whatever you do can be undone easy enough. The lettring thing is optional unless you have some attachment to that dealership. Nice score. A good old truck is always kool. Keep it simple and you can't go wrong.

I have to agree with most everyone else...it's a piece of history, leave it as is and drive it...looks pretty cool to me....

( 1.) Get some better wheels & truck tires.

( 2.) Tune it up, and do whatever brake and tranny upgrades needed to make it a solid tow rig.

( 3.) Get a good trailer hitch & cheap car hauling trailer.

( 4.) Find an early to mid 60's catalina or gto project, and build a 60's style drag car with similar lettering as the truck.

( 5.) Show up at the nostalgia drags looking like some dealer-sponsored poncho kingpin ruler.

    ( 6.) Go racing.

NICE SCORE!!Love them trucks.Leave it alone and drive it.I drove my 71 c10 every day and the only upgrade was power steering ,power brakes, and a hitch and a 700r4.Pulled great and got great mileage.Check the glove box door and it should have the option list.Probably a 307 but still a great find.

replace all the brake lines and cylinders, give it a tuneup and replace the wheels and tires with a set of 15" 60`s and slam it.

  17. My '38 Ford pickup is an old work truck that was, as we say here in GA, "rode hard and put up wet." It's street rodded, but I kept the external appearance pretty much original and lettered it as a shop truck for Drake Motor Co., the Ford dealer here in Rockmart GA from the Model T days until 1958. Phone 13. That was their phone number back then.

Oh come on... You know you want to throw some 30's on it, with some bling, bling chrome, and definitely go with the lambo doors! I hear it's the next big thing! LOL Everyone's doing it! haha oh and load the bed with about 10 TV's... Yeah, that's the ticket...

Close the hood, ditch the garbage bag, and drive it.

I have a '72 that I love. Great reliable useful truck. Of course I like the 71/72 grill a lot better than the 69/70 for what little that matters.

We've had a couple of these trucks. One was a wood hauler and general use truck. Started even in the coldest weather, hauled all you could load on it. The body eventually rusted apart. Saved it for parts and the engine and trans and they are now in my 29 coupe. Current one is bagged, shaved and rebuilt. Originally had drum brakes, manual steering, and you really had to work to steer and stop it. When we rebuilt it we put power discs on the front and converted it to power steering from the wood hauler. It's a project for my son and I so it now rides on 20's.
They are great trucks, easy to work on. Lots of parts are available. Make sure it's safe, brake lines tend to rot out, rear control arm suspension is a good system but make sure the arms aren't rotted.
Do what you want to it.
    Here's a picture of ours.

Nice truck Reds. I think i am going to keep it original. It does have true 38k on it. I want to paint it up the way it is now but fix all the sheetmetal. He got hit by a snow plow and cut the box open on the passenger side, but the frame is fine. I'll take it for a ride on thursday when i got it from the garage. You guys would flip at all the parts and really cool dealer stuff in there. He also got lots of awards from pontiac, like a couple of delorean awards.
P.S. This is my oldest project right now because i can't get the cash for some good old stuff. I'm just 17 and want a 30's pickup real bad. I just need a cab cause i got everything else stashed away.
