I was fortunate enough to be invited to Bill Hines 85th birthday party this past Sunday. Here are some pics of the friends and family and what some of them showed up in. The artwork is by D.A. Designs from Whittier given to Bill as an 80th birthday present, they made photocopies of the artwork and Bill signed and p***ed out copies for everyone who showed up. P.S. If anyone here on the H.A.M.B. was there chime in. Enjoy
awesome...cool ya got to be there...heard Bill sets off metal detectors when he walks through them as it's in his blood...literally...happy birthday Bill
How cool is that! 85 years old! I've always had two things I'd ask him if I ever met him... 1) do ya smoke those cigars, or just chew on them. and 2) what in the hell do you carry around in your shirt pocket! Neat... Sam.
Thats unreal! I'd love to meet him, hopefully one day in the next few years I'll get over there to Paso or something. Happy Birthday Bill!! (never realised how short he is!)
We had a blast at the party! Its still amazing to us that we have been at his 80th and 85th birthday parties. Bill is an amazing man and I cant wait to go to his 90th!
I have known Bill since the fifties when he had a shop on Dix. I was in that shop when he had the original Bat sitting in the corner with the round rods fins waiting for the sheet metal. Got to see him again a couple of years ago at the Autorama. Happy Birthday Bill.
Happy Birthday Mr. Bill Hines, I felt like the luckiest guy in the world shaking his talented hand at K.K.O.A. in Salina a couple of years ago. This gentleman is one of my most admired heros!!Rock on Brother Hines_Sololobo
Happy Bday Bill! I was luckey enough to met Bill @ the Starbird show in Wichita and now have his autographed picture hanging in my garage. He is one cool cat. Hope you have many more birthdays Bill.
Here's a crazy question... Anbody know how tall he is? It looks like he isn't even 5 ft tall. I've always wondered that when I see pictures of him. I think he has to be one of the most talented, yet least known of the original customizers. Good thing Jerry Weesner showed alot of his stuff in Custom Rodder, or he would be known even less.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Bill Hines, at the 2005 Detroit Autorama, it made my day for sure. Happy Birthday Bill, and many more!
I've never met him but would love to spend a few hours watching him lead something..just to get the hang of it. Happy B-day Bill.
One of my customers was there also. I yelled at him for not bringing me some pics. HAppy B-day, Bill.
Just as I promised the rest of the photos. That is Jack Stewart signing the dash and Jack's red/orange '32.
Thats kool Mike....Thanks for posting the pics. Hey Remind me next time i see you to Tattoo my phone number on you....Because it seems like when all these good events come up...you seem to lose it or something cause i never get a call......So Remind me O.K.?
