3 speed question

I'm building a 34 pu. I was gonna put my 394 olds in it but decided to flatty. I came across a 50' with a 3-speed. Question: can I make that ****** work as a daily driver? Highway speeds without winding the hell out of it. Pros, cons. All info appreciated. I know nothing about ******s.
