Sorry for the delay in the post, the reason will become aparent...The day finally came for the "No Bux Special", '23 dodge roadster my father-in-law (Aisle7), eric (Thirtytwo), many friends, and myself have been putting together for the last ~15 months. This last Sunday I went to Santa Rosa and DROVE it back to Folsom, about 3 hours. Here's a photo right before we hit the road, me and Aisle7.

The car rides and runs pretty well. However, after the run on the highway for a while aparently the sbc 305 head gasket decided to take a rest. I drove the car to within 200 feet of my house and had to push it into the driveway, A bittersweet victory, but damn cool to have it at home finally. I'm tearing the heads off now and will hopefully have it on the road for the weekend.

Thanks to all who have helped with the roadster, I haven't been able to stop smiling all week. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Rad car. Definitely one of the coolest non Fords I've seen...and easily cooler than a lot of Fords out there.

Thanks, Grim, but I owe the credit to Thirtytwo who saw the lines in the car and built the chasis for it.

Three hours on the highway in the Central Valley of California and only one decent sized bug wacked me in the forehead. I've learned to slouch down a bit... [IMG]

I'd say a good third of it IS Ford...this car is definetly a mutt. Ford F-1 rear end, brakes, stearing; Chevy sbc 305, TH350 ******; and Dodge body and chasis.

The Dodge bros left Ford just acouple of years prior to this, so I think there some definte bleed over in design.

  9. No the bleed over happened in the Ford direction. Look at a '23 Dodge and then look at a '27 Ford.

  11. What did you use to hang the F-1 rear? What frame did you use?

Whenever I see a pic start to load with those trees, I just KNOW it's going to be something sweet...

Right now the plans are to drive it. But...while driving it...I will be addressing alot of small cancer spots in the body, patch panel and body work. I'm also working on a rag top that will be completely removable to avoid some the direct sun exposure on longer trips (ie Bonneville this summer). I haven't decided on a paint yet, but nothing trick. It may just get a fresh red oxide, maybe a satin black , or a dark burgany. I'd like to keep it as traditional as I can.

Love to hear any of your (HAMBers) suggestions or thoughts though.

Now that's one neat car. I wouldn't go and do too much to it or you will start to loose it's personality. You (and those who helped you) done good.

*****in' little car. I have liked it since you posted your intro.

How about a hood, grill instert, caps and rings and call it done.

Are there any 40's Dodge hubcaps that will fit the Ford wheels? Kinda like this...

NealinCA- thosa caps would be sweet. I've got to find some of those. I've been mocking up the hood and still working on what I want to do with the grill. Thanks for the ideas. I'm sure I'll bump into you and one of the California events one of these days.

You guys just didn't beat on it hard enough [IMG] [IMG]
I've got it pretty much tore apart now. I haven't pulled the heads off yet but I will tomorrow, I'm hoping it is just the gaskets. Mike says he has some gaskets he'll get to me, I don't know how, but...

Oh hell I might as well go do it now.
