After about a month down I am finally on the road again. Here are some shots of the progress of my 34'. Between car shows and babies it's a wonder I get anything done. I am now running tri 97's on an offy intake. Limefire headers with a small baffle to keep peace with the neighbors. If you make it to Viva stop by and say hi!.
wow that looks good ,three ducks look much cooler. is that a hurst front mount?you have bell mounts or just the trans mount?i got the same truck trying to save the frame, its a little rough.yours looks great
Nice looking truck! I think your 34 and my 34 could have been separated at birth. Cept yours has an overhead valved heart and mine has a valve in head ticker.
Sawbuck, Yup thats a hurst mount. I am just running that hurst front mount back to the tranny mount. You can see towards the middle a few tabs that still have to be removed. The tranny sat way to low. Petejoe. I have often thought about doing a transplant in this baby. I would love to see a blown flattie in it. But I am not that rich and that money needs to go towards a 31' coupe for my new son.
Hey, pretty nice work on that old truck, mister! Looks like a real kick in the pants! Does it get driven much (any cruisin' in 'Vegas)? Take it out to Black Rock and blow the spiders out of it? Um, speaking of '31 coupes - can I be your new son? I'll be good - you'll see! You won't regret this...dad.
Jangle, Thanks. this is the first time you have seen the little hot rod. Yes it gets driven like crazy. The only time I don't drive it is when I am on my motorcycle or there is 4" of rain. (Yes it happens). You can be my son anytime. I could always use more help in the shop. Break that record first!
Got to vent. Drove her today for her shake down. Get to work and find gas puddled all over the intake. FUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGG!!!!! Is the only thing that comes to mind. So I hitch a ride back home to get the "carb tools" cuz I know I'm not driving anywhere soon. Viva is two days away and nothin is workin for me. I find that gas is just pouring out of the center carb. I check the fuel pressure regulator. Damnit, some how it was set on 3 1/2. Thats to much...But why aren't the other two pouring?? I remove the top of the center carb to chek the gas float level. Way Way low at full idle. Then just as before is flows out of control. So I remove the fuel inlet. It's gotta be the inlet needle. It's just not seating right. Sure as shootin I find a small shard of metal in between the inlet & needle. Moral of the story, make sure you triple chek everyhing before the shake down run. Flush your line when fabricating special gas parts, or fuel logs. The metal came from that. I just couldn't see till it was to late. Well, lesson learned. Just wanted to pass it on. Hope it will help someone else. Out
