Well what a last couple couple months. It all started when my dad decided to sell his sedan to get the 32 Coupe which started a downward spiral that included my roadster getting sold and a mad thrash to have his Coupe and my 38 at the Roundup together with time to spare. As the days went by and the time started slipping it was not until Thursday at lunch that we actually made a real voyage to move the cars on there own power more than 10 miles or so. So with less than 20 mile on mine and less than 120 on his We loaded up all the spare parts, parts numbers for replacements, tire, tools, etc and headed out to what we had lost so many hours of sleep on "THE ROUNDUP".

We rolled into Round Rock, TX greeted by some beautiful Texas thunderstorms. Made a call to Denise (Hotrodladycruiser) nad verified that Reggies BBQ was still on. Hung out there for a few and it was off to Thirtsy Thursdays. Man let me tell you what. That was the coolest museum of old car/race artifacts I think I have ever been too. It was a house but really a musuem. Anyhow we hung out till dark and it was time to make a p*** to Congress. I was really amazed at how many cars were already in Austin Thursday night. Continental club was already kicking.

Friday morning I was greated by some unsuspecting issues. My wife follwed us done in her daily with the kiddos. I had to move my cars so my step dad and mom could go to work. The 38 cranked up just fine, the 2003 (DEAD BATTERY). Long story short I was late to the Garage Crawl because my wife forgot to turn the dome light off. Anyhow we jumped in at the 2nd stop which was Reggies Shop and followed it out from there. Met some really cool Poeple again, visited with some Hambers and got to see what the local shops had up there sleeves. Pretty cool stuff going on there. Was really impresses with the way the flatheads held up all day, (NoSurf, Highboy32) etc. BIG THANKS to REGGIE. He goes out way out to make this happen. THis is one of the reason I even attend the Roundup. So thanks Reggie alot from the Dirty's. Anyhow I think there was like 55+ cars that showed up and traveled in the rain all day. A good testament to the ********s guys and gals that dont let the rain hinder there vacations. After the crawl I headed back to west Austin to take a much needed nap before the Friday night cruising. Glad I did cause I did not make it to bed till 1:00 am just about the time the Thunderstorms were rolling back in. Lots of cool cars, cool poeple out Friday night. Glad I got to personally meet Jimmy White. What a great guy. Probably one of the highlights of the whole weekend. Totally not expected to be such a laid back and cool guy. ANd his work is very impressive in person. Even got to see The Monkey buy a long haired, miniature dashound for $1,000.00. I just dont understand some poeple.

Saturday morning we arose to a beautiful day to have a car show. The show was awesome, the cars, the vendors, the bands, everything was great. The new location and the spot they decided to have it at on the complex was perfect. Rain should never be a factor out there. There was so many cool cars that i could not tell which one I liked the best. It was cool to see Bob Bleed's dad get a award. It made the whole crews weekend after all there problems coming down. The 38 got alot attention which meant alot. We found a shade tree area to park since my kiddos and wife rolled in with me. A cool Aussie parked by us as well as Ben D. It was cool to see Danny (hotrodbuilder?) make it in after his thrashing the last few months. I could go on and on about the show but I think everyone has pretty much voiced there opinion about how cool it was at the new location. Big thanks to Denise for the purse for McKinley, she loves it. The Hamb meet and Great was awesome and the cookies were great as well. I think I had about 10 cookies the whole weekend. Gonna have to do some extra crunches this week. Thanks Denise

It really did not don on me until we were getting ready for Bob Bleed to perform at Trophy's that the Roundup was just about over. It ****ed that after all the thrashing the few weeks before that reality was gonna sink in and have to get back to normal life again. It is really wierd the reason we do things. These cars are a life, a p***ion, it can take ahold of your life and it can become all that you want. Thanks to all that came up to the 38 liking it. Thanks to Ryan for this site for alowing us to show progress pics, thrashes, and more importantly help each other out and learn. I did not get a whole lot of pics that have not already been covered but here you go

By all the post and pictures of the Roundup it sure looks like a hell of a time that hopefully one year I may make the 1700 mile ride. I have been watching the post's over the last several weeks of you guys working day and night to get your new rides ready to roll and it sometimes make me think that the meets that we enjoy going to so much also helps keep a fire under our ***'s to get our rides ready so we can make it to the next show. Anyway great work on both cars and now all your late nights in the shop get to turn another page from the enjoyment of building to the enjoyment of driving. Happy Motoring.

Yeah me made the whole trip with only one shock bolt coming loose. My dad got up Monday morning to drive to his shop and had a flat, thank God it waited till we got home. Turned out the tube popped at the stem from rubbing

Rusty, it was really good to see you and your pops down there in your new rides. I gotta say, they actually BOTH look better in person than they do in pictures. Also, man I am SO GLAD that you didn't back into your dad's deuce just to talk to me! :D That was close!

Yeah it is funny how you see something happening in front of you but you just cant seem to find reverse yourself. The hot rod gods were watching over us. Thanks for reminding me, I go to install that rear view mirror

I gotta say I really dig the new Saturday venue too. I think it's time has come for something more like that. I used to like the car show, but really went to Austin for the South Congress cruising action... but it seemed that part sorta hit critical m*** last year. This year, downtown seemed to have a higer ratio of drunk spectators per participant...

So now the focus (for me) is more of the Saturday afternoon deal. That venue (if the Kontinentals plan to keep it there) will allow that part of the event to grow some more... but still keep it true.

I can't believe how quickly they found a new place for the show... and it's even more amazing how well everyone knew about it. Great job Kontinentals!

Hope I didn't scare your wife on Saturday night. Some guy running out in the middle of the street and jogging along side the car while ya'll were cruising! I might have been a little buzzed.

I did mean what I said. Ya'lls area was spotless when I got to that part to clean up beer cans etc. You didn't know that it was us that cleaned up, but that somebody would have to. "Little" stuff like that really tells me something about people. Cl***y, in a redneck sorta way.:D

Rusty....so? Tell me about the engine! Last time I talked to you on the phone, you hadn't even fired her off and now you've already attended the Roundup with that 389..[395.5 cu in with the 0.030 bore job] What did you end up using for carburation? Ignition? Does it scream? Any leaks? Are you happy with it? Is Cory singing the blues for selling it? I know I am. Inquiring minds must know.. What does it hold for oil pressure?
ps..after it's broken in, dont' be afraid to take it to 6000...but no more
