So my 54 Lincoln that I've had in the works for about 1 1/2 years is pretty much all set for the trip to Vegas. Suspension is all done, bunch of bugs worked out, getting ready to go right....... Wrong. The fresh water pump I put on about 6 months ago and have driven about 500 miles is screaming like a bitch. Ive checked belt tension, It was not too tight to start I verified, Ive lubed and etc etc. This came up monday. I figured, not a huge issue, I'll call Kanters and have them overnight another pump. Come to find out THEY DONT OVERNIGHT. Isnt this 2007??? Arent they a decent sized company??? Oh well. Just frustrated. Now I'm in the middle of a mad dash to get my 36 ready for the trip. Just took a break and was venting.
I've never taken it on a long trip. If you see me on the side of the road pick me up will ya?

Good luck on the 36. Can't believe the Kanters wouldn't overnight. You might write a letter, letting the big bosses know what's going on. I mean, the last minute need for parts is an American car-guy tradition!

If the customer is paying for overnight shipping...I don't see why any decent company wouldn't do it...thumbs down for Kanter

Try Napa, they had a Master cylinder for my 59 caddy in stock.

  12. I've had good luck with Autozone finding older car parts in stock also.

i work parts at a ford dealer so i deal with this stuff a decent amount so i have to agree with everyone else, carquest, napa, fischer auto parts (dont know if they are nationwide or not), i have been amazed at what those guys stock, got ahold of some really old/obscure parts pretty quickly, definately cant believe they wont overnight a part tho, thought it was just us guys on the east coast that the westerners didnt care about, good luck to ya

Ok. Update. Thanks everyone for all the leads. I called multiple napas/carquest and little parts places everywhere around me. No luck. I decided to focus on the 36 and it looks like its all set. I havent been able to road test it during a warm day because I just finished but the temp seems great and with the fan I'm hoping it'll be fine. Trial by fire.

I am a bit suprised by the Kanters thing. I got the last pump from them and I wasnt even asking for a trade. Just sell me another pump and overnight it. I'll pay for whatever. I told them I just got the pump from them and that it would be interrrupting a trip Ive had planned for a year and they werent concerned. Kinda sucks, but I'm even mopre suprised that they dont do it at all.
After Viva I am going to write a letter. Not being a dick or anything, just reccomending a change in policy.

Hopefully I'll see you guys there.

    Joe
