Well as everyone prolly knows by now the BFG 285/70 15's are discontinued and im not gonna spent 200.00 Plus a piece for Cokers. Whos runnin a 31x10.50 and wat brand how do they ride etc etc.. Im gonna be mounting these on a 10 inch wide rim.. I read some time ago that even though the 31x10.50's are a truck tire and 6 ply that you could run the pressure even lower for a good ride. I want a good looking tire and a good riding tire.. Looking forward to your comments. Dave
Before BFG made the 285/70R15, they had Sport Truck Radial TA tires in that size. I wore out a pair on my roadster before going with the P-metric tire. The passenger car tire seems a little quieter, and I think has a little better traction and ride than the truck tire had. I ran mine at about 18 PSI on my roadster, and they were fine. I am interested to hear from someone with more recent experience with other brands in this size.....
i've got a pair of 285's bfg's that are currently on my model a ....might have 50 miles on them .....they ride and drive fine.....as for the sport trucks.....i have a couple pairs of the rears in 16's......they are a good tire and handle pretty good in the rain.....ran the 345's and 315's on a couple anglias.......and they look bitchin on a 16x10 and 16x13 halibrand...bfg sorta dropped the ball on those...a little different marketing and a different name ...would have sold a lot more tires.....lol......pm me if your interested in the 285's.....also got a pair of 345/55/16 sport trucks for sale.... thanks brandon
If you use a 16" rim, goodyear makes a P285/60/16 in their eagle GTII line....I use them on my chevy pickup and have had good luck.
Too late i already have 2 sets of 15x10,s.. I just tried a set of salt flats on my coupe and i really dont like em so im going to put them on my roaster but i need or would like the bfg's for my 5 spokes i took off the coupe to put it back as it was.. I can build the roadster around the salt flats. I think its just a matter of color and the gray centered flats dont like my orange car or the other way around.. Thanks anyway Dave
Having played with 4x4s alot I would stay away from the 31" LT BFG or Goodyears. Way too stiff sidewalls. Look at the Coopers or Hancooks with their lighter sidewalls.
