 hanging new lights in the garage, they are "vapor lights" They can be wired 12/208/240/277 volts. I want to wire them 220. At 220 where they pull 2 amps. So do I run 14/3 w ground to the light?

diagram says one wire to common , one tto , either the 120/208/240/277 lead and ground to ground. WHAT THE HELL do I do with the other leg of the 14/3 I ran to the light ?

For 220 you would have 2 hot, one neutral, and one ground.

Three wires: two with 110 volts and a neutral. Get a 220 breaker for the panel and plug it in. The two 110v will attach to the breaker and the neutral will attach below where the rest of the neutrals are attached. Hope this helps. By the way always work on a panel with one hand in your pocket(if this makes no sense call an electrician) The fourth wire also goes to neutral Sorry

For 220 all you need is # 12 wire with 3 conductors. White to common, black to your 220 lead, and then hook up your ground. Blsck and white go to a 2 pole 220 breaker in your panel. Ground to ground bar.

  5. 12/3 would be better.

    heh, everyone's a know-it-all.

I'm ***uming you mean what to do on the light. Short answer: cap off the white, connect the green to the ground screw or geen wire. Connect one hot (red or black) to the wire labeled "common" and the other hot to the wire labeled "240 volt"

You could have gotten away with just running a 2-wire because the light doesn't need a nuetral but thems the breaks.

If your light has left over leads after wiring the ones you need, CAP OFF the extra leads. The unused leads on the primary of the transformer are HOT!! I was almost killed by a jerk leaving uncapped leads.
