I've got a TH350 that keeps pushing fluid out of the kick down cable. Any idea of what could be causing it. It's more than just a leak. After I drive the car a short bit it will have a large puddle under it afterwards.

Got rid of the cable. I guess I'll try a new O ring. Never seen one push fluid out like this.

    How're you pluggin the hole?
Are you sure it's not coming from the filler tube or the servo and running to that area?

what do you mean you got rid of the cable?

What is in the cable hole ?

THere are 2 designs of sealing for this cable... early used an O-ring....

later design used a sealing sleeve. The rubber sleeve must be installed into the hole first , then the cable end pushed in.

If you cut the cable off short, fluid will run over the top of the cut off cable housing. I had a leak, well it poured, I searched for it for a while and finally found it. I just put a new cable in and hooked it up right.

always fill the cut off cable with silicone inside and use oring and a little sealer on it , and check to make sure the vent tube on the top of the case is clear or it will push out for sure...

How far up the kickdown cable does the fluid go? Is it up there while it's running or afterward? Thanks

Not far when the cable is in.LOL
But the fluid level is higher when the engine is shut off than when it's running.

  10. "Right Stuff" gasket sealer. Seals anything.

I'm sorta thinking it might be the vent tube on top of the tranny. My father cleaned it for me and may have stuck something in the hole. That's my first thing to check.

I cut the cable off at the lowest point I could. Then tapped a bolt into the hole with some sealant. It had an O ring on it and seemed like a nice tight fit. It's just leaking around the kickdown. the fill/dipstick tube is fine.

  12. Clark what you describe is relative to two things that I can remember.....
1-Plugging of the filter inside pan=-OR
2-Vent tube on top of trans case has dirt plugging that.....

  13. Clark, differences aside, be sure you have the right filter in it. No kidding. I had the same problem with my old deuce and yes, the filter had holes going in the wrong way, building pressure. They always say there all the same , but I wonder................
