I rolled my project outside this weekend to clean up a little and grabbed a few shots out in the light. When ever I step back an eyeball it, the old streamliner trains of the late 40's and early 50's always come to mind. I did a little poking arond and found a the name of a streamliner that used to run in my area on the east coast.
So...meet Cannon Ball , I think it fits!

The mechanical build is pretty well done, so I should be ready by next week to pull it all apart for final welding, body work, paint and assembly. It's finally time, besides with my other cars gone, I need something to drive! haha

I couldn't find a picture of the original Cannon Ball, but you get the idea.

    Keith,
Are you gonna smooth out the hood sides or keep it the way it is?
    Looks awesome by the way.

    Thanks.
There's just a lot of subtle things going on inside and out, real mild custom. Other than the the front bumper, you see the basics for this round. Obvious paint and interior.

    FUCK YES!!!
    This one's gonna be sick.........

  21. ...when you "lowered " the hood vents, you shoulda flipped em side to side....in other words, with the louvers goin down and back. This was actually the way the hood was sposed to be produced, but the sketch got approved upside down and went into production "upside down". True story, I've got an old magazine with an interveiw with one of the original designers of that year Chevy. Now, to me anyway, those louvers look all wrong as produced. I want to flip them around on my car as they should've been.

The 37 Chev is my all time favorite Chevy design. Yours looks awesome, keep up the good work. What color you goin with?

Thanks again everyone, I've been grinning through this whole project.

jmn444 - The taillights are '41 Studebaker. Yea, that's a trailer hitch you see, doesn't every car have one? haha . I plan on pulling my Scotty camper to some long distance events when I can get the time, but plan on pulling my '65 Stevens hemi powered drag boat with it locally.

NashRodMan - The hood sides definitely won't be smoothed. If they were, I wouldn't have spent the time to lower the spears. I like the look with the louvers and the trim, but they needed to line up with the lowered '38 headlights.

rusty1 - I could see what you mean about flipping the spears, and that would look good also. I had actually looked at doing that when I cut them out, but thought with the spears lowered, the louvers were to close to the bottom and got lost. It would have actually saved me some fab time if I had done it that way.

    tragic59 - I can't give away everything. haha
But I can tell you it'll be shinny, and a dark period color. I won't have the final body paint done this year do to lack of time, so it'll be in primer for now. I will have a few key pieces in the final color so I can see it on the car. You'll have to wait until next year for the finished product!
