so this is my ride, just wondering how you guys felt about it, it is a 61 buick special, with the aluminum 215ci v8, edelbrock performer intake, 500cfm carb, thrush glass packs, and much more to come
If you like it, what does it matter what anyone else thinks about it. A post like this will get your feelings hurt.
It's got a good beat and is easy to dance to,........ I give it a "6" ( BTW , I agree with Greezy on this post,..... hope you have thick skin)
How do YOU feel about it? You'll get a lot of different opinions about it here and if you're looking to please everyone then you're in trouble. Do you like it? Does it make you smile every time you drive it? Are you learning how to fix it by taking care of it? Good, that's all that matters.
nice nailhead! needs some fined covers and new air cleaner in my opinion. new chrome wheels maybe astro supremes. shave the rear handles, and lower it. maybe a paint job too. but its cool as is.
thanks guys, i was just wondering i personally love it, but i like positive and negative feedback, to broaden my horizons
I had one of those in Germany in 68...mine was a 62, Special 2 door sedan in light metallic blue with a white top. I loved that car! Had the 215 v/8 with that terrible 2 speed tranny. Those cars drove very nice and were really light. Mine had manual brakes and steering. IMHO, it takes a lot more work to make a 4 door look good. I've seen a few I like after dropping the suspension and swapping out the wheels, which can be a challenge for those little buicks with 4 lug wheels. I'd stay with the stock center caps on steelies if it was mine.. Maybe some outrageous flames, flaked top, nice exhaust will help it but it'll never be a tudor..
I'd paint it teal with a silver flake roof. Anything born in 61 is cool. I don't know about the pink ribbon but other than that, I'd drive it.
haha my girlfriend did that and i forgot to take it off before i took pics, thanks for all the feedback guys keep it coming
cool ride! your a gutsy dude driving a unibody car in ma. i had one of those back in 78' and it was rusted in half then. the reason i got it the po couldn't keep the doors closed it sagged so bad but a floor jack, some tubing and arc welder solved that. make sure it undercoated good!
Here's my honest opinion ... because you asked. And anyone who give me guff for it can eat a brick. Your car fits several stereotypes of the "rockerbilly" scene: - 4-door - flat black - red wheels And now the 4-door Love Patrol will jump in and say how great four doors are, and I agree ... if you are a grandmother. Flat black and red wheels ... they have become a standard joke around here. And now some guys will jump in an say how great flat black and red wheels are, and I agree ... on select few '32 and earlier hot rods. On a 1960's 4-door? Blech. And that's what a lot of people will think, but probably won't say. I DO think it's great that you are driving a 60's car and loving it.
...........I'd be tempted to cut it into a "shorty" and maybe make a roadster out of it at the time...maybe fab up a convertible top for it. Just me.
I don't have much of an opinion about the car one way or another,it's a dark primer gray moredoor that needs to be lowered, but,,,,,,,,,,You haven't posted a damn "INTRO"! NEWBS MUST READ? They never have trouble figuring out how to post and post pics, but,,,,,,,,That INTRO thing throws 'em all the time. Go here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=18 and do that!
My opinion? Chick car. But it's not mine,it's yours,so FUCK ME! If you like it,that's all that should matter.
looks like it needs motor mounts, your upper radiator hose looks like a pregnant guppy, and somebody should hide your spray paint. Larry
ok radiator hose is brandnew and not pregnant, spray paint sucks i know that, and im custom fabing motor mounts cause a 383 is getting dropped in...hence much more to come....
I think it's a neat little car and we all know it ain't easy to find a cheap 60's car in good shape like I'm sure that one was. As for the red rims and flat black I was just looking at all the pictures from VIVA and I have to say there sure are a bunch of red rimmed flat black cars there!!! I like the metalflaked top idea too.
Overkill. You'll end up sinking $10K in a car that will never be worth 25% of that. 4 doors are great drivers. Cheap, convienent but not something you sink alot into. Generalizing here, but your car fits the generalization.
nah man picking up the 383 from a friend for dirt, have a ford 9 inch sittin next to me, and full access to a machine shop, and some decent experiance, all i need to buy is a tranny, its more of a recycling project
Is that a white top? As another poster wrote, silver flake would help. But, heck, if you're having fun, just re-aim your fog lights and enjoy yourself.
Opinions are like assholes - everybody has one. My opinion is that it.......uhhh.........kinda sucks, but that's only MY opinion. If you enjoy it, screw everybody else. In the end, it's YOUR opionion that counts, nobody elses. But for the love of God, take grandma's ribbon off the fuckin' thing !!
I think it has potential, the flat black and red wheels has been beat to death, but whatever you like. I personally would go the Kustom route and slam it with some chrome bullets or astros and white walls, and hit it with some flake and color, maybe shave some handles. Whatever you do just drive it and enjoy it.
