I am not to familiar with "TRUCKS" of the 30's!! What is an AA '32 Ford truck? I have an oportunity to buy one for $800.00!! Clean cab, with a dash, front fenders, frame, and front and rear suspension. But what the hell is the AA designation???? AND is it worth $800. large? Ken

    An AA is a 28-31 one-ton truck.
    A BB is a 32-34 one-ton truck.

Since 32 is the "Magic" year, every body wants their whatever to be one, but they're not!

Well, maybe, maybe not...you gotta figure out which it is. It may BE a 32, and the dude just said AA cause he's not up on the designations for the big trucks. Or it may be a 30-31 AA...one or the other. If it's a BB, it could also be a 33 or 34, lots of people don't know the difference...need a pic or something. I'm guessing you haven't seen it?

Print out some photos of Model A trucks and 32 trucks, it will be really easy to tell them apart, they look way different, just a do a search on Google or Yahoo.

Cowl vent for air(32'-34') or a gas tank filler(Model A)?..........also, look at the firewall.....flat and could be removed 32'-34'....

If it's got a Flathead V8 in it, that would be good sign that it's a '32 also.

Here's a pic of my 34 which is essientaily the same as a 32. It had a 4 cycl "B" motor in it. As you can see the grill looks a lot like a normal 32 and the A will look like an A, just a big truck. If I recxall correctly the cabs are the same size as a pick up so depending what you want it for it might be handy. Hope this helps. There is alos a thread on "Has anyone rodded a big truck" or similar on here recentlty. Search and you should find it.

Here are 2 pictures of it! I have not "SEEN" it, as it is on a web page in my hometown, I have emailed the guy but, I'm in the middle of something!! Just typing between "drying" times. Let me know if these PICS make a difference....Thanks, Ken

The cabs are the same... or so i heard as the basic 1/2 ton pickup... so uhhh if you wanna build a hot rod truck, then grab the body... looks decent to, so you can flip it if you dont want it.

Definitaly a '33/34 as mentioned earlier by the firewall and as far as I can tell the dash is 1 piece, on a '32 the part of the dash that holds the guages is removable.
From a distance it is hard to tell an A from a '32-34 but an A truck has 3 door hinges where '32-34 have 2 hinges.
I would jump on that like white on rice. The doors fully dressed bring almost twice your purchase alone, at least in the rust belt where I live.

Don't let that one fall into the wrong hands. Kirk Hanning is correct on the year of manufacture and the value of the doors alone. Looks like good rod material at a good price.

I've got a '29 AA truck. I know it is definitely different looking than the '32-'34, but there are some definite differences between the way they are built and the regular trucks.

One difference is the frame. The AA is quite a bit 'deeper' through the c-channel as it runs the length of the frame. Mine is approximately 6" deep in the center section under the cab and through the heaviest weight carrying sections.

Another difference is the springs. The front spring pack on my Double A has 14 leaves and the rear has 16 leaves in the rear. The rear also has a modified leaf spring setup, where the front and the center are bolted to the frame, and the rear end is completely suspended by the eyelet on the rear of the spring.

You can also check/tell the Dubble A by the bolt patterns of the wheels. There is a WIDE bolt pattern. I just measured mine and it is roughly a 5 bolt with a 6 1/2" bolt pattern.

As for the main visual differences between the bodies, there really isn't much difference between the regulars and the Doubles. I do know the running boards are longer on the Dubble As, and they tend to be flatbeds or other utility type beds.

They are great trucks for building, and the stock frames don't need much reinforcing when it comes to most forces exerted by hotrodding them (although this depends on how much force you do exert on it.) I'm planning on using my stock frame in its entirety, and will eventually add a smaller custom flatbed to it.

As for the price and determining whether or not it is worth $800 or not, that is entirely up to you. I traded an old Goldwing and $300 for the complete '29 I purchased (about $1500 total value) and the only real rusted out spaces on it are in the lower cowl sections on both sides. I absolutely love it, and love this style of truck. My plans include a 4.3 Vortec motor, 700R4 trans, 9" rear, discs up front, and I'm going to drive the freakin wheels off of it.

Its up to you, but I'd jump on it and have a blast with it.

I've had a bunch of these, definately a 33/34, and you had better grab it, the first 6 foot or so of the chassis is also VERY similar to a 1/2 ton, or car chassis as well.

Is the drivers door missing, or just off? I don't wanna discourage, but want to make sure you know. Finding a good drivers door will set you back anywhere from 400-800. You ought to buy it anyhow, just wanted to give you a heads up.

I have a short wheelbase 32 big truck frame that I used the cab to build a deuce PU. The serial number begins with AA and not BB as my other 32 big truck frame does. Only think I can figure is that it must be a very early 32! It is definetly not a Model A
