This thread makes me proud to be a part of the HAMB...its like finding your high school ring 40 years later after it was lost of the coast of Florida...you have heard the stories.
I don't understand why these people are being such A-holes about giving you any info. It makes me wonder if it was an illegal sale or something. If they are afraid to give out the buyers name for legal reasons, they could at least p*** your info on to them. I hope that a bunch of HAMBer's sending idle threats/harr***ing this guy doesn't hurt your search more. I think trying to contact Jack Walker or Kurt McKormick may be a very good idea too. They are from the area, and are both incredibly into the historic custom scene.
Thanks for your comments. My goal in this search is to locate my old car and hopefully purchase and restore it if the car is not trashed-I.E. wrecked, modified, rusted, etc. If the car is too far gone to restore to original show condition,I will consider cloning the original car.If that were done,it would severely devalue the original. As I was there on the original build,I would be able to recreate the original car perfectly. As for threats and har***ment to obtain info on the location of the car,I prefer not to go that route.Hopefully anyone with info will come to the plate in the interest of ***isting a fellow Kustom Kar Enthusiast.
Have unconfirmed information that my old '56 Chev. is in theSt.Louis,Mo.area.Am in need of help from HAMBER'S in the area to locate the cars current owner and hopefully have him contact me at jnielsen2@dc.rr.com or 760-409-6296.Thanks in advance for your ***istance.
Bttt. Does anyone in the St.Louis,Mo. area have any info on the whereabouts of my High School Ride.If so,kindly contact me. jnielsen2@dc.rr.com 760-409-6296
I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has ***isted me in trying to locate my old High School Ride from '62.Am confident that the current owner is aware that I am trying to locate the car and has chosen to not communicate with me.Obviously that is his right, but I am deeply disappointed. Therefore I have set a deadline of June 1st to locate the car.If I am not contacted by then I am going to clone the car to the customized shape it deserves.Fortunately I took pictures weekly at Wilhelm's during the original build and when I sold the car I keep some significant pieces which will authenicate the recreation. My first choice is to restore the original car strictly for sentimental reasons. It appears from the most current pictures that the car is in poor shape and will require a tremendous amount of work to correct 40+ years of abuse.Hopefully the current owner will contact me before I start the recreation.Unfortunately if I recreate the '56 it will severely devalue the original car.My motivation in building the car is to preserve the memories of the original builder and owner and in doing so derive the personal gratification from doing this.
Jerry, Hopefully this car ends up in your hands soon. Hopefully the current owner will change his mind!
I've had a few 56 Chevies including a Nomad, & just love em'! Thanks for the posts! Some of those oldies were incredible! Nice to take another short stroll down memory lane!
you would think the current owner would contact you even if he didn`t wanna sell. i`m sure you hold information that would be beneficial to him even if he decided not to sell.
I agree in thinking that the current owner would want to contact me.You are correct also that I have info which is critical to a accurate restoration.Without my imput it is impossible to do a accurate restore.Hopefully I will be contacted.
Bttt. Still trying to locate car.I am surprised that I haven't contacted the current owner by now.All ***istance appreciated.
Jerry: I posted a couple "information wanted" posts on Craigslist and got some responses and one lead. That's the email I sent you with the bodyshop in St Louis. Hopefully that lead turns up some good results. BTTT since it is now getting warmer and everyone is starting to get out to the car shows and talk about cars. Everybody that responded to the Craigslist posts says they hope you find the car as well.
Greg: I followed up on your lead in finding my old '56 in St.Louis.Unfortunately the car behind the body shop was a '56 Merc. with the back end cut off. Will continue the search and hopefully the car will surface. Thanks for your efforts-Very much appreciated.
Jerry, wish you luck on finding your car. Tried to find my fist car, but it was totaled 2 days after I sold it. Good luck.....
glad that it left the benton auto mall and is in STL cause the guy at benton is a Crook to the fullest hi rusted up vehicles are outragously priced and and there is a report that he has a vehicle from a family that he promised to restore for x amount of money and that has since doubled and has no reciepts to show what he has bought or anything and has the vehicle "trapped by trailers so the family cant take the car back.
Bumped to the top for Jerry! Where you able to locate your old ride? If not maybe someone here has seen it since 2007 and know about its whereabouts?
