I am still trying to find out who the owner is. I have asked a few people but no one seems to know. One friend seems to think he knows who's land it is but would not be too happy about us even knowing about it or trespassing on his property. He won't let anything go. Which stands to reason since everything around him is being developed. I have a trip planned to go back and look at the car next month. One way or another this car will come out of there. It will not just get crushed.
Or the tax assesor's office. You'll have to look at a map to determine the lot or parcel number, so try to have a pretty good idea of where the property is situated so you can make a good guess off the map. Sometimes helps to have and odometer reading from the nearest road intersection. There is 5,280 feet in a mile, so you can figure out what the distance is if you need to scale a map.
I just called a friend and we are going to go check out the car as soon as it warms up a little (it is going to be in the teens this weekend). Once we see if the car is still there (no reason it should not be) we will go through all the necessary steps.
Well, I talked to who I thought owned the car today. Me and my friend Glenn (HAMBer---dabirdguy) stopped by the closest house to the property and talked about the car. He knew of the car and told us it wasn't for sale. He has been trying to get it out of there himself. He also told us it ran around 17 years ago when they pulled it to that spot. So we exchanged numbers and hopefully one day we can get it out of there.
Did he know of the car or did he own it? If not I would try to talk to the guy who actualy owns it. Waiting for everyone else will only promise that you dont get it. good luck!
No he did not own the car. The guy who owns it is one of the sons of the original owner and will NOT sell it. He told us that he would try to get the guy to come off of it and sell it before it is too far gone. And as far as waiting for someone the guy we talked to was an older guy that had a good stash of old 50's-60's cars himself stuffed behind his place as well as a bunch of old tractors. He showed us around and said he would call us if and when he desides to get rid of it for scrap. He was actually a cool ol' dude who remembered the car when it was up and running and agreed that it was a shame to let it rot where it was. He tried to buy it years ago and the owner will not get rid of it. He offered to call the guy and help get it out if and when he will sell it.
theres always some real greaser shit............... but you didnt hear that from me, i dont think he will notice its missing..... heh heh>=)
Trust me I might think about it but there is only one good way on with all the hills and woods and creeks...and that one way in is an old overgrown dirt path right in front of the guys house who we talked to. There is going to be alot of tree cutting and backhoeing to get it out....there is no other way of getting out. You would just have to see this old place...it was an old farm and subdivisions are all around and a new road just went in making it harder to get out.
if it was me.........*clears throat* i would get there just after dark, take it apart. then when it starts to get light, get the hell out of there. then the next night right when it starts to get dark again, start grabbing the parts and runing to your truck starting with the small parts first. two guys for the frame, and a dolly wit the big tires for the engine and tranny(two different trips) the body is the hardest part, so you can save that for night 3. get that dolly wit the big tires and two other guys, or build a dolly with big wheels that will let it roll. put the cowl(heaviest part on hte wheels) and have someone be a lookout and front "looking were its going guy"(dont know how else to say it) and two guys on the back pushing/lifting. god im totally going to prison.... lol
man...i just watched one of the last old farms around here just get subdivided off....i was lucky enough to meet the old man through a newspaper add...we pulled a 32 chev tudor off the land for 500 bucks...by buddy is driving it right now with the og straight six...its channeled six chopped six...i would try to find out the owner,BUT if that wont work try talking to the old man with the tractor and pull that out, offer some cash for his services...if its a no go, i Definitly would sketch out and dismantle it draggin ass style...
keep trying on this one....if you were closer i'd offer to lend a day to help....but it would be hard not to try and take it from you after it's out! haha
here are a couple from your neck of the woods......heck you probably know of these as well......a friend was doing construction work and found them ....right in the middle of a stores and stuff......but out of eye sight .......brandon
Ok, seriously im all for saving old iron, but this is the kind of bullshit someone pulled on me and stipped my RUNNING and driving '55 Buick 2 door I've had covered and stored in north Idaho for the last 5 years that i've been in the AirForce. Had a few notes and obviously someone had been "inspecting" the car, Then I come home on leave a couple of years ago to find a stripped body sitting on the ground. Since this is a secluded spot with no neibors within 5 miles or so, im never going to recover anything and no one coule have seen anything going on. The next person I catch anywhere near my land or god forbid walking with an arm full of my parts out to his rig, some one is getting shot, beaten or perferably both. maybe your advice was ment to be funny, but just wait till it happens to you.
