Years ago Cotton built a roadster that he named SAYONARA. Lakes/modified style, very low, yellow, Ardun power. This is really a neat car, would like to see pictures or know about magazine articles. I'm sure others would enjoy seeing this car. CR
The search function on the HAMB is a wonderful thing... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53748&highlight=cotton+werksman Enter the correct name - Cotton Werksman - and you will get several threads. It looks like the pictures may have been deleted, but you can PM the people for them. Mutt
CR, I am Cottons son, Matt. I will try to post some pictures for you of the old yellow Ardun powered T this week. He's currently building another Ardun powered car. I'll post pictures of that as well. I too am building hot rods. Working on a lakes style T, flathead powered of course. Matt
[ I am Cottons son, Matt. You've got some big shoes to fill Matt. Your dad has been there done that so don't let the family name down. I remember when he built that T and I'm as impressed today as I was then. Please show us some of the stuff your building and anything your dad might have in the works. Frank
I think Matt will fill those shoes just fine. I have seen the car he is currently working on and it looks killer. Matt knows his stuff and has been extremley helpful to me. thanks again Matt!
looking for info on the mid engine car CW built back in the 60's (i think) magazine articles. planning something similar for the street and don't want another cookie cutter car help
I'm Cotton's son, what can I help you with? The mid-engine car was called "The Project 200" car. It was built in early/mid 70's. I have pics and info. Matt
Yeah. Chances are, the car is a bit non Traditional. Eventhough Trad Rear/Mid engine cars have been built ( like my all time favorite, the Chrisman Coupe) But if this car is as cool as the yellow T he built, I'd love to see it.
'27 roadster body, blown 392, space frame, independent suspension, pilot and copilot heads poking thru the cowl. *****'n hot rod, but not as bad as the Ardun powered modified. By the way, I like that car without the top better, but of course that is only one grumpy old fart's opinion.......
OK boys.....I'll dig out the old mans pictures and stuff and try to put together something nice. He's working on another Ardun powered car right now. And building a blown Ardun for Don Orosco, yet another Ardun for that guy!!! LOL I am also thinking about putting together a dvd package at some point in the future of all my Dads old home movies of the car shows from the 60's and 70's. He's got the first nationals in Peoria and tons and tons of other stuff....would there be any interest in something like this? Matt
I found some pictures. Will try to post them this weekend. Will also try to post pictures of the car he is curently building....if he'll let me!!! LOL Matt
I have loved Cotton's yellow T, with Black cobwebbing?, since I was a little kid. I first saw it in Rod&Custom back in the 60's, it always said HOT ROD to me. I met a guy at the Nationals South in Knoxville one time that had a black T that looked like Cottons, and he said that Cotton helped him on it? I always wondered if that guy was b.s.'n me. It didn't have a ardun , but a regular flathead. I remember he was flattered that I thought it was Cotton's T. If you make a dvd, let us know about it. I remember the mid-engined Hemi powered T too!I betcha his T got a lot of people into street rodding in the 70's. Big influence.
Several ch***is were built using the same jig...one resulting car was black and as cool as you can imagine. Used a straight tube axle with a rotating cuff to prevent binding on one of the radius arm mountings. Had a TON of pics...lost them all in the big computer crash of '06. I love that black car...it's sinister!
I love that car! It's in Rod & custom December 1968. I have it right here but my scanner's down & I can't post it! Sorry
I've had the flu for the past 3 days. Feel like death warmed over. Just starting to feel human again. I'll download the pics I took last week of his current project, also some pictures of the previous cars. If I have time John, I'll post some pics of my 32. Also John, call me about the oil pan stuff Matt
Yo Matt I met your dad while working for Ed Roth your dad is a cool dude. Tell that ol salty dog I said hey,and can`t wait to see them picks man ..... Endsville Von Franco.......................
I made copies of mag articles covering Project 200 which was the rear engine car. Also Tom Senter authored The Ardun White Papers, which I'm sure Matt knows Cotton gave a lot of info on. There are a lot of copies involved, if anyone is interested for $5.00 to cover my cost I will mail these. Actually the copies are more clear than the old mags. Let me know and I will post my address. Matt, I would like to see all the old pics to. Bob
