From Dallas to San Fransisco. Was a long drive back. Not to mention scary as hell. Doesn't fit the board, but it was a beat up 67 Fastback with a worn out 289. Stopped once to sleep on the side of the highway in the desert.

    Sea to shining sea!

I bought my Plymouth off of Ebay in the winter. I was in CA it was in NC. He delivered it to my in-laws in north GA and we drove a Chevy Suburban there, left that with my father-inlaw so he could pull his drag car around, and drove the Plymouth home, with a small trailer and two baby seats in the back. Made it. Not a bad shakedown for a $1900 car.... :D

We did it over the holidays and made a vacation out of it.

I made a 2600 mile round trip, to get a truck (ebay) and went home with an empty trailer 'cause the seller was a sorry sack of shit ....truck was badly misrepresented.

    That sucked.

Does flying from Connecticut to California and driving a '56 Ford Half Ton home count?

I wanted a 240sx coupe, so I flew to NYC, drove alone back to KC in 24 hours. In December. I spent every cent I had (I wrote a bad check for the toll and gas.) Paid cash for all the red bull. Found a black 5 speed 25 miles away in the paper the following week.

  16. MilesM relayed my '32 Fordor frm Baldor Manitoba Canada to Phoenix then BenD picked it up & hauled it to Selmer TN. This was somewhere north of 4000 miles.

I did the last 600 miles (Knoxville to Selmer & back) myself. I'm all hardcore like that.  :p

Drove from Dayton, Ohio to Mesa, Arizona to pick up my '57. About 3600 miles round trip. Took a buddy with me, but I ended up driving all but about about 4 hours each way. Drove straight through except for gas and chow stops.

Detroit MI to Sacremento CA About 2500 miles one way...ouch
It sure was a good reason to see the west. Missed the 50th anniversary of the Bonneville salt flats meet. Boy was I pissed...My 20/20 hindsight was in full force. I sure would do it again though!

It's definitely OT. But I won a pristine Lincoln MK VII LSC on eBay in '04, rented an Avis Olds Alero and drove 1100 miles from Niles, Oh straight to Yukon Ok solo to pick it up, then drove her home. Most folks around home thought that I was crazy. But I wanted a nice rustfree Linc driver and had a fun adventure to go along with the purchase..:)

I once won a car on ebay for $308, flew from El Paso to Reading PA bought an ex u-haul truck for $1000 (77 F-350) and drove home passing through Raleigh NC and Macon GA . Total trip was just shy of 3,000 miles.

PS: The $1000 U-haul is one helluva truck. Runs great.

Drove a U-Haul from Portland, OR with a 68 Dart Vert on a trailer to Lafayette, LA. Dropped that off and immediately went to Austin, TX for a 67 Mustang fastack and trailered that back to Lafayette, LA. Then brought the U-Haul back. They were surpised I made such good time coming form Portland!

Also drove from Lafayette, LA to North Carolina to pick up 3 426 Hemi engines.....:D ......then drove straight back.

  29. How about 5 trips 2400 each way to move my cars (2 at a time) Michigan to the southern Oregon coast? Still have to go back now a couple of more times to get the rest of the parts for them.

I do wonder about the sanity I maintain when pre-1960 cars are involved

    (let alone my wife)????
