Just wanted to thank both of you for putting together the Garage Grown area at Pleasanton last weekend. It was very cool to see cars in suede parked in-doors for a change. First time in years that I've had fun at a GoodGuys show. We will be back in June. Thanks again! No photos of the show, I forgot my camera. But one of us just before leaving the shop on Friday.
Damn guys, thanks. But it's us who should be thanking you and everyone who came and enjoyed the weekend. We had inside, outside with shade and the Strangers BBQ'd. There were nothing but compliments from the staff and spectators too. We got our foot in the door and it was a huge success. We are going to get a larger area to call our own at the next Pleasanton in June. Plus use of the BBQ's again and our own bands. So, if you know someone who'd like to play, let me know. I won't be there because I'll be in Detroit at Billetproof, but I'll do everything I can to make it not ****. It will be nice to have more events that we can attend and feel welcome. BTW Garage Grown will be happening at most of the Goodguys events across the country this year. So when you register or show up at the shows ask about it. I'll try to post a few pics later if I can.
Holy ****! It takes the HAMB to remind me what's happening with my co-worker just 20 feet away! I didnt realize Kirk would be away for the next one, so if any of you guys that had a good time at the first Garage Grown would like to help me a little bit with the next one I would be forever grateful! The next one in Pleasanton in June will be bigger so I hope to see even more of you out there and the ones who did get a chance to check it out tell your friends what you saw and let us know you thoughts about it too. Thank you to everyone who made the first one fun- it only gets better from a really GREAT start! I know it wasn't the Round-Up, but hopefully there's room here to talk about something geared especially for traditional rodders and HAMBers other than the "HAMB-approved" events. THANKS again- Jim

HISTORY has a FUNNY TASTE,,, LOVE YOU KIRK!.. hahahah see you in antioch GERM
[ QUOTE ] I think it's CUTE that the PUNK ROCKERS are now SWALLOWING the NATIVES,,, [/ QUOTE ] I'm looking at it as more of a Trojan Horse thing myself.
[ QUOTE ] FIVE years ago HOMO, this would have been like LETTING and IRISH guy **** my ENGLISH ***,,,,, and then MAKING me ***** enough to JOIN the I.R,A..... [/ QUOTE ] Five years ago I'd have laughed in your face if you told me this is where I'd be and what I'd be doing. I was VERY anti Goodguys and was until given this opportunity. Now I'd call myself optimistically skeptical. But for now I'll keep sneaking my kind of people and cars into "Big" shows and getting paid for it. I still **** heads here at work pretty much daily when it comes to car opinions but I'm getting through little by little. So far so good. Maybe one of these days I'll need an ***istant. Germ, you're first on my list of potentials. Who better to give me back rubs.
I gotta BUST your BALLS brother,,, some of us WERE right with you,, except we can SAY still that the ***** never TOUCHED our FACES, and that the GUY in FRONT is the GUY who's GAY....... How does the GOOD GUYS BALLS taste> Sometimes the ANTI, is really the NEEDY... I will take out your TRASH, for a JOB at BILLETPROOF
Germ, I'm not quite sure what you said but I thnk it was a marriage proposal. Sorry man but I'm taken. You'll find someone who's right for you and settle down. We could have an affair on the side though. Don't tell my wife, she'll beat me again.
[ QUOTE ] Kirk, Did you take any more pics of that Ranchero in the first shot? Thanks, Ed [/ QUOTE ] Sorry Ed, just the one far away and the close up of the fender and scoops.
So is there potential of this happening at the Dallas Goodguys show? That would be nice! Garage Grown, I mean, not you and Germ going at eachother....
I guess two "haters", germ and the jerk in the SSR, aint bad compared to all the guys that had a great time including all the entrants given a complimentary entry, 2 weekend p***es, free late model parking, a chance to win a new car (last year a new Hemi truck was won by a custom building tattooed local-his Pontiac is the last one pictured), and a few other goodies. I know you have a punk rock "agenda" germ, but this is life and we are doing what we can to make it more accessable to guys that have felt shut out. If it's still not "cool enough" for you that's fine but ****ping on my running board doesn't make it any better. Thanks-fat, old poseur.
The guy you awarded 'coolest 60's car' to was stoked... I talked to him last night. Couldn't make the show, but look forward to the shows there later in the year.
[ QUOTE ] I gotta BUST your BALLS brother,,, [/ QUOTE ] If you weren't I'd have you see a doctor. BTW when are we gonna get our booze on since I never saw you in Turlock?
[ QUOTE ] The guy you awarded 'coolest 60's car' to was stoked... I talked to him last night. [/ QUOTE ] His name is Willie right? That '61 Caddie of his was SICK! I took a couple shots of it. I'll try and dig 'em up.
SHUT THE **** UP JIM, I always SUPPORTED you... This IS HUMOR,, I never HATED "GOOD GUYS", I just have to TEASE those WHO did, yet NOW they WORK there,, It's for FUN. germ
[ QUOTE ] This IS HUMOR,, I never HATED "GOOD GUYS", I just have to TEASE those WHO did, yet NOW they WORK there,, [/ QUOTE ] I resemble that remark. But then again I also resemble Abe Lincoln.

Indy is only a couple of months away. What do you guys have planned for that show? Just curious 'cause I'll be there!

He has just opened his own shop in Santa Clara, very talented guy, and nice as hell. Will be seeing him tonight at the Happy Days Diner in Campbell. Been trying to get him on here too!
I know it's "humor"- sorry I forgot the smiley - It's just a ***** sometimes to bust your *** on something and the only people who speak up are the ones that want to crack on it. I'm a big boy, but at the same time I've been warned not to promote my stuff on here so I try not to toot my own horn. Just don't like seeing the one thumbs up we get being dumped on. I didn't go on all the round up post and talk ****- BECAUSE I WASN'T THERE and what does it accomplish? If you want to come to the next one I'll have a special parking space for you and I'll ride you around on the golf cart. THEN if you want to say it ****ed that would be an honest opinion I would have no problem with. See you there
[ QUOTE ] Indy is only a couple of months away. What do you guys have planned for that show? Just curious 'cause I'll be there! [/ QUOTE ] We are definitely having it at Indy. I'm working on getting a cruise from Detroit to Indy together. It's the weekend after Billetproof out there. I'll post details when they're available.
Dude, germ... Jim is offering the GOLF CART! I think you should take him UP on it... I did, and now I am a new MAN. Jim, I'll call you tonight... ok buddy. Hahahahahaha... All kiddign aside, I think this was a neat deal. You get to see all the old skool rodz in one area... and they made us feel welcome. The response from spectators was also very encouraging. For next time, will it be in the building? I think it would be cool if Kirk or Jim not only did the promotion that they did last time, but also stood at the gate and handed a little "invite" card to the participants that rolled through the gate with a car that looked the part. Now I'm not saying this to be elitest... or to say that it'll be the garage grown area against the rest of the show... I just think it would be neat for the average joe-showgoer to see all of these cars in one place... and for the rest of us that are into old hot rods... it makes looking at the show all that much easier. Sam.
We're going to be outside next time in a much larger space. It will be taped off with only one entry point. The p*** idea could be good for keeping the high dollar riff-raff out. We will most likely be next to the tunnel entrance. There is a big gr***y section with a covered picnic area that can seat like 200 people and has four large built in BBQs. The idea is to clear out some of the tables and put our bands in there. Then we have our own area with all the amenities.
