What year did 2 wheel drive S 10s have the Disk Brakes?
I checked with my local salvage yards and all they can find are 4 wheel drives which are too wide. I told them to look up 98 thru 2001 and their books show Drum brakes only. I've decided I want 3:73 gears and they are quite rare also. Sooooooooo is my request for a 2 wheel drive S 10 rearend with Disk Brakes and 3:73 gears an impossible request?

S10 blazers had rear disks as an option in '98. Word of caution-the parking brake shoes are dealer item only, and very pricy at that.

You'll find the 3:73 rears in the older models (82-89) with the four banger (2.5L), 5 speed trans. It was very common in those trucks. But you want 3:73 gears with rear disc brakes...Good luck. Most of the newer trucks had V6 engines with automatics and 3:42 rears. Keep this in mind...
If you have a 1:1 output trans, (like a 3 speed), you'll need the 3:42 rears. If you have an overdrive trans, you can get away with the 3:73 rears. Here's the difference...
    A 1:1 output trans with a 3:73 rear and your engine is screaming at 3200 RPM's @ 60MPH. With the 3:42 rear it's cruising at 2100 RPM's @70 MPH.
The overdrive trans has an output of 1:1.5 or so. With the 3:73 rears it will cruise at about 2400 RPM's @ 70 MPH.
What does this all mean???...If you run a lot of highway miles, lower RPM's at highway speeds means better MPG's.

Here's my problem: I'm using a Buick V6 with 115 HP in my 26 T coupe. (my dad gave me the car and I MUST use that engine)

    It was in a 1980 Monza. Tires were - P-165/80 R13 (23.3937 inches high), rearend gears: 2:81

I want to run P235/75 R15 (28.8779 inches high). The gear calculator says I should use a 3:4564 gear.

I want to be able to spin the tires a little bit. I also may go to a wider tire but same height.

The 3:42 gears would be perfect, BUT will I be able to spin the tires with only 115 HP?

I'm planning on using the stock 4 speed.

4 speed means rev the engine and pop the clutch...yes the tires will spin!!!!
