I am building a frame for my 31' tudor out of 2x3 tubing, I've gotten most of it complete and am to the point of needing to build the crossmembers. The problem is the very limited space after the motor and trans is installed. Any suggestions, comments or pictures would be apprecated.

    Thanks in advance!

You are not giving enough information here. What have you finished? The rails and front and rear crossmembers?
All you really need for crossmembers material wise is 1x2 and/or 2x2 tubing and/or 1.5-2.0inch round tubing. You'll need a transmission crossmember, preferably with drop-out center so you can drop the trans alone if need be. Some folks like to have the engine on a crossmember tube too.

Oh yeah and the front crossmember is stk model a, the trans crossmember is 1.5x1.5 tubing and the rear is 2x3 tubing.

    Thanks again

  5. I built my frame with 2x3, and I used 2x3 for crossmembers because I was planning to run exhaust, I figured I could drill 2 1/2" right through it and weld tubing in the holes, then run 2 1/4" exhaust through that.

Build a ****** crossmember and then triangulate back to the frame for strength. These pics are from my A sedan. 2x3 frame, 1.5" x 2" 3/16" wall tube for center crossmember and supports. Now I use 1.75" 10 ga. round tubing since I purchased a bender.

No pics. I have to pull the body off to snap some. Just get creative with it. There are so many ways to do it. Give it as much strength as you can within reason.
