  1. My 26 Model T 2 door sedan body did not come with a visor. My initial plan was to thin the panel over the winshield when I chopped the top and leave it at that. Now, however, I am having some second thoughts. What do you thing. Should I run a visor or not? Are there any other options, besides the stock frame with fabric cover visor, that I should consider?

If you find the stock big fabric covered visor offensive, try a 28-29 Model A Coupe or Tudor visor. These are smaller in overhang and are solid steel rather than the perimeter framework like the stocker. They'll fit nicely and can be trimmed if you chose.

Im not really sure how a sedan looks. Im guessing they're alot like the coupes. On the coupes the windshield has an area above it thats about 4 inches . Some guys when they chopped their coupes took that part out. ( Buss Bomb comes to mind) If you take that out, then no visor looks good. If you dont, then a visor is suggested. I personally would go with some type of model A visor or a home made one simular. The original T visor in MY OPINION, is too large for a Hot Rod. Thats my 2 cents worth.

I'd say the stock visor could look good on a seddan, but I'd like to see some photos of some options.

  6. 26/27 Model T coupes and sedans have the same cowel, "A" pillar, windshield, and windshield surround. Picture shows my body head on.

How far are you choppin' it? What are you doin' for top material?Resto rod or hot rod style?
By the way your crank hole is to high. I wonder if the tractor guys get pissed when seein'their parts on hot rods.
I'd have to look at thinnin' that panel all the way out and usin' a real thin (2 1/2' or so) visor. The front roof edge may look funky with out something there. Have fun,Smokey

I used a roof from an 86 Ford SW for this shortened chopped 26.. I like the shape and the ridges-the flat tops are kinda plain. PA

I used the 28-29 coupe/sedan visor on my 29 truck. (same header panel as the T)

It screwed in on the sides, and bolted to the new wood kit like it was made for it.

You could use a stock A visor

I used a peice of 3/4" tubing for my header and made a visor. I made it small. Just enough to cover the hinge on the windshield and add some flair to it. Sorry I don't have any good pics of the car now that it's done.

Would have attatched this to my first reply but it was still on my camera. I just put this on my coupe last week. Im not sure what the visor is from, got it off of e-bay. It was 2.5 inches too short so I lengthened it. I like it better than the original, its alittle sportier looking.

  14. Some good ideas. Thanks! I've got to give this some thought. But I don't have to decide just yet. I have to figure out how much to chop and do it. I'm thinking 5 or 6 inches. I'm 6'2" tall and I want a little head clearance when the welds cool off.

And I imagine a little forward vision wouldn't hurt either.
Try reducing the header panel so that the windshield glass is level with the door glass. That will give you a good cohesive look and still allow a visor to finish it off.
