Hi all, been visiting this site for a while now. What a great cross section of the world. I have done quite a bit of traveling and no matter which country I'm in, we all have one thing in common, old cars. Sure beats talkin' politics or religion. My 2 boys and I are resurecting a 1950 Dodge truck. Putting in later model running gear,4 spd, disc brakes and stuff. We are learning new things together and having fun. Very low budget unfortunately. Well anyway, thanks for lettin' me have a place to read and learn.
That's pretty freakin cool, I'm reading threads from Europe on here and here you are probably less than 2 miles away! So gettin ready for the Chatterbox? Whatcha got?
Hell yeah.. but its more of a high dollar place. To many muscle cars and billet rods. Got this little 27 sedan right now, but its at my brothers house in Hampton.
That's going to be wild! My mom lives in Hampton. Part of my place is in Hampton , township line cuts right thru. So what engine you planning to put in?
This 283.... Check out some of the progress http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=171229
Jesus, John. I checked out the pics, are you a fabricator or what? That's an unbelievable amount of work. Looks really good. Good brother to loan you his garage. He must be into it too. We were thinking about chopping the top on the 50 Dodge but that kind of scares the hell out of me to be honest.
Thanks... By no means am i a fabricator. Just a punk kid that likes building hot rods. My brother layed everything out. I just did the grunt work and he helped me out when he could with all the hard stuff that i had no idea how to do. But chopping the top on the dodge shouldnt be too hard. Just a few calculated cuts in the right spots and thats it.... LOL! But it shouldnt be too bad. Finished chopping my car after i bought it and was easy but there was a ton of tedious work. Also did a 39 chevy truck with my friend, which we now own. Took about 6" out of the top of that. Wish i had pics but i completly forgot about the truck since its in a barn in NY. But if you ever decide to do it, theres alot of info on here and ive got some local connections if you need help.
Welcome aboard, Lafayette, NJ here......don't let John fool ya he's not a punk he's doing a good job on that T.
Lafayette,Branchville? I had no idea this was going to be such a "home town" site! If this rain don't stop soon we may have to all get together to build an ark!!
Welcome Eddie...your in a good neighborhood with the Injectors around the corner, love those guys. Thats a nice Sedan your building John, cant wait to see her on the street, nice work.
I grew up hearing stories of the Injectors, a few of my friends from around Culvers Lake had an older brother or someone who was actually a member. Always saw Bill Heulits 32 at Mickey D's until he moved. If you're from the area you know Cliff's Garage in Branchville, well back in the late 70's Tom had a 55 chevy sitting there forever and I used to ride my bike past it and drool. Well I own it now but it's not done. Never seems to be enough $$$!
Ha, northwest jersey, thats hick country those boys don't even carry extra ballast resistors on a highway trip up to Conn. Welcome.
Well last summer I didn't drive anything, but I usually drive a 55 chevy that needs an interior desperately or a 61 vette that needs paint. If I'm lucky we might get to bring the 50 Dodge truck minus most body panels over there for kicks! How 'bout you?
