There is a town in Nebraska named Mead.During WW2 the Government had an ordanance depot there, manufacturing plants and bunkers spread out over a large area.If one blew up they all would'nt explode. We use to drag race out there.Mile roads that were paved between all the bunkers and manufacturing plants. There is a s****per out there that every once in a while turns up something. This weekend I got this. Now that ain't no creampuff but for $150.00 it's in my budget Put it in the truck and headed home someone had chopped it four inches then changed their mind and put it back Luckily we stashed some metal from a sedan so I have most of what it will take to make a useable coupe.I'm a chevy guy thru and thru and am stoked to have found a 32 chevy to work on.Now I have to leave it alone until the hoodlum is done.
Theres another 32 chevy sitting in Bruno 40 mi or so west of Mead you could check out somtime your scavenging.
Where I'm from an SOB is a South Omaha Boy,I'm one by birth and choice The weekend was one to remember.SOT's Rob Lee and Yoda made good finds also.Rob closed the deal on a 48 plymouth buisness coupe, solid has had updates, original black paint with a couple of primer spots.Going to make a cool tail dragger.Anyone have a slant 6? Terry got a 27 ford roadster steel body, good shape , a bunch of someones abandoned projects.I'll get more photos when we get all this in a pile.Later
I used to drive through there on my way from Fremont to Lincoln just to take a different route for the commute to work. It pays to keep your eyes open.
With the welded deck lid and enlarged firewall opening....this body looks to have a racing pedigree. Is it possible that the top was cut off to install a rollcage, then welded back on?
the hoodlum has been sitting, but gathering parts..I have one more old fleetline that I'm going to take the top for the metal for hood and cowl.I'm suppose to do that tonight and I'm sure Rob Lee's wife would appreciate it.I cut the belt line off the door skins and am replaceing sheet metal which brings me back to the fleetline top.Last week I went to roothawgs and traded for a 235. Shot the days off driving 1500 miles but am happy with the trade. I've been collecting parts, rear end ,******, springs, hairpins, front axel, radiator. The ch***is build should get serious soon.Had to have parts to know where to put them.Anyway thanks for asking, going out to work on my grandsons chopped bicycle, later.
Could go either way.As is it's a good set of quarter panels for a buck and a half.I have some nicer sheet metal, with those quarters I could have a body.On the other hand that body has a history.I'm taking a fleetline apart and could bob the rear of the frame and run the torque tube 216.Throw the coupe up there a little squarer than shes sitting now and go hunting a Roadburner I'd want to race.Hell ,independent front suspension.same as up to a 62 vette. She could be rolling in a month.
I am so pumped!! that is so damn cool. That thing is so much better than wha I started with. I hope to see that on the road on the "vette" ch***is. Heck you need to get that coupe down to Americruise and we could have a little run off.. Also, we could meet on airport road in Beatrice this summer
