Magnesium Halibrands or Chrome reverse on my 32??

    Which do you like better??

My car is kinda cartoonish to begin with. It's one of those cars that has had too many themes over the years. At one point it was destined to be a Pro Streeter (right before I bought it). The rear is pretty narrow.

I guess right now it may fall into the late 60's drag inspired category? It fits my style since I love the glory days of drag racing.

The chrome reverse are Wheel Vintiques, 15x4.5 front with 5.60-15 Firestones, the rears are 15x10 with Radir cheater slicks.

The mags are the real deal. Magnesium Halibrand Sprint fronts, polished, 15x4.5 with BF Goodrich Silvertown 5.00-15's. Rears are 15x10 with a modern MT drag slick, 31x10.5W.

Personally, I like the steel chrome reversed wheels better. If the Halibrands were raw magnesium it would be a toss up....only because with the polishing (which looks great) makes it look like maybe the wheels are aluminum repo's.

    Just my 2 cents....NICE CAR!!!

  3. Not an easy choice, they both look great, just different era's.The halibrands definately give it a 60's racecar look (my fav)but the chromies are more traditional 50's look.

Since your askin: loose the steelies, and the rear fenders. I'd also loose the exhaust it looks like a good donation for a T bucket. The exhaust throws the car off more than the wheel s do. Nice lookin 32 is that a cross ram manifold?

  6. I thought I was gonna say Halibrands [my favorite wheel] but that car looks so RIGHT with the chrome steelies, I'm so confused....

As much as I love real magnesium Halibrands, that car looks fantastic with the chrome steelies and the piecrust slicks. Never thought I'd say that, but there it is.

I have mixed feelings here. I love the tire combo on the steelies and the front steelies look absolutely perfect on the car. the rear steelies look just a little too deep though. not really something you can help though with that narrowed rear.

as for the halibrands I think they look really good on the car but the tires on them take away from the look of the car. I'd like to see some older tires on those rims and then I think it would look even better than the steelies. with that much tire the look of the rubber has alot to do with the look of the car.

Wow. I'm surprised the majority prefer the steelies so far. I guess I was excited for a change and I'm digging the Halibrands for now.

I do have crusty grey magnesium wheels that will fit the car, but I thought they would clash with the polished firewall and polished engine dress. I think I have a picture of the car with aged mag Torq Thrusts which I'll post later.

The thing I dont like about the chrome rears is the extreme offset I had to use because the rear is so narrow. It's amazing you guys pick up on the shit that bothers me. lol. I also want a different set of headers but want something custom made but that is way down on the priority list.

31modelo... yes it's a 327 with an Edelbrock cross ram.

  26. shakey, the majority vote is for the steelies so give up on the mag wheels and sell 'em to me. they will look great on my project.

Here is the car with 15x4 and 15x10 magnesium torq thrusts. I sold the fronts but have another pair that are darker just like the rears. I apologize for the crappy photos.

Steve, sorry all my magnesium stuff is keepers.

No brainer here, those slots just work on that particular car. If I had em, that's what I'd have on it, and make the black paint just as shiny as I could get it.
