If you have time stop in Gold beach and take a ride on Jerry's Jet Boat Rides up the rogue river. Its FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.roguejets.com/
That car sold...the owner is in the same car club as I....saw it in the back of a PU on Sun. As for the orange Willy's PU, It was cool.....my buddy that I went with SHOULD have bought it! Along with the '40 Willy's 'gl*** nose....... This was my first time at Portland...could't believe the prices guys were asking for stuff.....swaps are more for looking at stuff and BSn' than actually finding something for a good price anymore.....unless your looking for NEW parts from a vendor....some good deals, and no shipping/tax... I did get a few 97 carbs and linkage components though..... My legs are still sore......
Lots of stuff for sure, but prices were out of line on much of it. I saw a 1975 Pacer for $9000 if that gives anyone an idea (I took a picture because I couldn't believe my eyes). It was in really nice shape...but it's still a tan with brown interior pacer for fook sake. I didn't find anything that I went there for. Portlands strip clubs rule though.
I started walking at PIR on Thursday morning at 6:30 and went until 5:00. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were all-day events. Lots of expensive stuff, lots of cheap, some in between. I've never seen so many cars sold as this weekend-anything that was good in the 15-25K range sold; the bad ones didn't. Doing the slap-together-and-sell-it didn't seem to work this year. I almost bought a 40 pickup with a 350/350 combination that needed some work but ran and drove for $4500. The orange Willys pickup had a 76 V-6 Buick drivetrain and he was asking $15K, negotiable on Saturday and Sunday. Decent 53 F100 w/o engine for $2750, sold on Saturday for less. I saw a set of Electroline headlights, in good shape, sell for $1000 while someone else was asking $2200 and took them home. I did find a driving 34 1 1/2 ton Ford for $2500 that looks really straight and complete: I think that one's mine. Overall, it was a fun weekend.
