I don't know what this car was built for... or even who built it, but it sure gets my gears turning. Looks like alot of fun, although I think I'd make mine a little more nostalgic with maybe some more period correct wheels. Anyone know about this car? Anyone have anything similar?

Well I figured that's what it was modeled after at least, but I wasn't sure if it was a modern recreation or an over-restored original race car. Something about it makes me think it is a modern version. Did they use tow hooks like that one back then?

    WOW,
That is a bad ***ed pic, where did you get it?
Holman moody, yes stock car firm. But stickers are a dime a dozen..
    Fairlane not a "stock car".
flat hood not a FE hi riser (it wont fit unless motor is way lowered)
    Full roll cage in pic
I 80% completed a 64 Comet in this style once(15X8's front and rear, IMCA front end, GN 9" rear with camber), and got an offer I couldn't refuse, and I took it..
Again I say, WOW. I like that picture. More please..
For sure that's a modern car, and I love it. That's sick....

ok I found my answer.. It is a new car! but built by Holman and Moody. Looks pretty cool

"1964 Fairlane Sports Car - With FIA approval, Holman Moody is building 4 new Fairlane Race Cars. The original Fairlane was raced in 1964 by Holman Moody and Alan Mann Racing. These new cars are complete with 427 race engine, aluminum top loader, fibergl*** fenders & doors, FIA paper work, ready to race in historic events. The first new 1964 Fairlane raced in Europe in 2004, winning its’ cl*** in the first race! The second car, painted Ford white, is now ready for sale."

Check the December or January issue of Hot Rod Magazine. That car was picked as one of the top ten of 2006; there is an article earlier in the year, too.

That would have been a Permetex (sportsman) car later in the '60s. Nice looking race car. ..... Bob

    Thanks for that link!
It reminds me how much work that ch***is requires to turn and stop.
Now I remember why I took the offer to sell......
Still that car is bad***. If I had the resources of HM I guess I would make that car too. Maybe a little more HP :)

In 1963 and '64 the Willment Racing Team in England ran a couple of Galaxies in the British Touring Car Championship, competing mainly against MkII Jaguars, Mini Coopers, and Lotus Cortinas. This was all circuit racing stuff, competing at Brands Hatch, Silverstone etc. They were supplied by H&M as Nascar Grand National cars, and were fitted with a few light weight panels etc to get some of the weight out of them. They weighed in at 3,504lb!

Three even competed in the Tour of France, a road race held over 3600 miles. John Holman took a third car over for this event.

They were driven by greats such as Jim Clark, Dan Gurney, Graham Hill, Jack Brabham, Jack Sears, etc. They had to run full interiors! They actually fared really well, and won several races, before being superceded by the Mustangs, and lightweight Falcon Sprints.

I ***ume the car in the pic is based on one of these, rather than a Nascar, which is only really built to run on ovals.
